Loved that every line looked dangerous tonight to some extent!
A lot of bounces went Detroit way, which was frustrating because Sharks played well imo.
Right team won the game! LET'S GO SHARKS!

Also Celebrini is going to be sooooo good!

There was a lot of Detroit rebuild talk here and I think them not having Celebrini type of prospect during this recent rebuild is what is keeping them from actually taking the next step. Also they've had a lot of bad luck with the lottery... but they have 4 Stanley Cups from 1997 to this day, so I'm not feeling sorry for them at all.

They don't have a Celebrini prospect but they do have Larkin, who is very much a Celebrini kind of player except for when he is trying to headhunt lol. They both even wear 71 which is kinda weird actually.

The highest pick they've had during this period was #4. They've done pretty well with the Larkin, Raymond and Seider picks, but the Zadina pick was a flop. They just haven't had the lottery luck to nab their own Celebrini and frankly, if we didn't have him, our rebuild would be looking worse than theirs.

I looked at the stats from Larkin's draft to now, I would say that stats wise he was closer to Smith path wise, but with better stats in his first NHL season... so far. So I would say he's in between of Celebrini and Smith. Though I'm not the best evaluator of NHL players, I would say he is not the best 1C but a good one.

I hope Eklund stays hot for a while and becomes our ASG rep. I know Granlund would be the guy right now, but it would be much cooler if it was a homegrown guy who is ideally a big part of the future. I don't know how he is in the locker room, but on ice, he seems to be really turning into a leader. I expect to see a letter on his jersey soon, maybe even the C.

This team has been so much fun to watch. Celebrini, Smith, Eklund, Granlund, Zetterlund, Toffoli, Walman… just a fun group to watch.

Hell, even Kunin looks great on the 4th line.

Going to be ridiculous when Cagnoni makes the jujump.

Not only Cagnoni, but Pohlkamp is standing out in Denver.

I mentioned how good he looked in prospect scrim. Now he's taking his game to next level.

Sharks aren't going to have many more opportunities at a late 1st round pick. If Granlund can manage to return that for renting him, I don't want them to pass on that. I'd absolutely look to bring him back in the offseason if he's willing to be overpaid on a short contract. But if he wants to win because of his age, it's hard to not let him get that opportunity.
He's not going to yield a 1st though. Teams trading for him are not going to be deploying him 21 mins a night like the Sharks and therefore he's not really close to a PPG player in terms of value.

Combine that with his last TDL move going horrifically bad and lacking prototypical playoff size and there isn't going to be a 1st rounder out there for him most likely (especially without retention).

For most playoff teams, Granlund is hopefully your 3C that can bump up to 2C in case of injury or play the wing when needed. He's a 15-16 minute a night player 2/3 liner and PP2 type. I don't see teams giving up a 1st for that in a 5'10 package.

I heard Taylor Hall might be on his way out of Chicago. The Sharks are just 4 points out of the playoffs. Let's trade for Taylor Hall and bring him here to make a push for the playoffs!

I wouldn't be shocked if he ended the season near-PPG.
I mean it’s certainly possible, I was expecting he was going to set career highs this year I kind of had him slotted I for 65-70pnts however he’s at 15 pnts in 20 games and hasn’t really had a hot streak yet.

Side note it looks like Smith and Celebrini are developing a little bit of a friendly competition between each other

just got home from the game.

1. Love that the lund line is back. They were buzzing all game. Should never have broken em up. Should never break em up again.

2. Love Walman. Not sure how he and zetts got crossed up in the goal, but is is superb at both ends. Smells of a 5 year extension. Even into the mid 30s.

3. Liljegren has been excellent. Great addition.

4. I’m done with Ferraro. He’s bad. Just bad. Fine at a third pair I guess, but nothing more.

5. Celly and smith were ok, but smith tries to be way to f’in cute with little touch passes and soft plays. Dude, you are not mcdavid, yet, so play harder. Oh, and for gods sake, hit the net. Celly gave up a breakaway and looked a bit short on confidence… of course until the Or winner :)

That said, kids are looking more and more like nhlers.

6. Grundstrom was my unsung hero of the night. He was all over the puck, hard in the forecheck. Great setup to kunin. 4 sog. All in under 10 mins. Loved his game. I wouldn’t mind giving him a shot up ge lineup and letting syllandrea have a little bench time to think about his play.

All in all, Detroit was terrible and both teams showed their colors. Sharks deserved to win but made some ridiculous errors with an own goal, too many men penalty, o zone tripping…

Still, what a fun game!! And a W!!!
According to HockeyStatCard Ferraro had the best night of any player on both teams.

In the last 5 years, of all the games I've been to; this was easily the best one.

Celebrini & Smith should stay together for the foreseeable future. They just feed off one another so well, it's a shame Goodrow is attached there with them. I know it's not likely, but Colin Graf would fit the role there I believe, much better.

Defensively, Liljegren really has made a difference. The biggest flaw is that the Sharks defense has trouble on breakouts and springing the forwards through the NZ. Liljegren really does a nice job with his footwork and passing to help enable the transition to get moving in the right direction.

Stoked to be going to Saturdays game, should be electric.

The nice thing about watching this team is we don't have Labanc/Hoffman/Zadina guys just floating around. Dellandrea, Kostin, Grundstrom, etc. all keep the forecheck going when they don't have the puck.

Just makes the team look more alive.
That new 4th line looks great and looks miserable to play against
