If we all, collectively, agreed that officiating is inconsistent and haphazard but evens out in the end and stopped complaining about it, the servers would survive deadline day.

That last “hand pass” is a simple example of terrible officiating. Very clear that kerfoot tapped it with his stick. Linesman has a clear view and he’s 15ft away. And he calls it a hand pass?

To me that’s more than just bad officiating. It’s instinct. Based on bias.

How else is that explained? Sheer incompetence? If that’s the explanation, that linesman should not be in another playoff game this year

What prevents a leaguewide strategy from being running top Dmen?

Just knock them the hell out. Take out knees and if you need to, heads. 3 games ain't shit compared to the roster loss.

What makes the top defensemen elite is the ability to protect themselves and take a hit.

Suspendable hits is a different story but once a team commits to that strategy good luck to their own skill players....

I missed this? When did that happen?

Fairly early on, he came in forechecking and his shoulder got him right up on the side of the head but everything continued on just fine. It wasn't the worst hit in the world (mostly because McCabe wasn't visibly hurt from it) but it was a hit to the head.

He's calling out the officials for missing a penalty against Toronto.

That may be his first time not being a desperate homer based on what we see here.

Did someone say "servers"?

Used to be the fear of the goons.

If teams decided to play this way, you’d see real tough guys back in the NHL again.

I don't even know who he is but it's amazing that that wasn't called. They really are blind

I’ll have to look for this tomorrow.

I hope no one gets hurt tonight
