Have to admit I only was looking at the head the first time. Looking at it again now I notice his left leg went into the boards awkwardly. But he was holding his mouth after going down.... broken jaw maybe??

Going to say though I don't think Kane intended to hurt him. OEL has a habit of drifting towards the boards like that and Kane didn't bump him that hard to knock him off balance.

Yeah, I hate the way he does that without establishing his position better. This isn't exactly the first time he's been injured doing that same thing.

A bit about the experience attending the game: I felt pretty safe at the game, with every-other-row seating, and a minimum space of several seats. I'll go again. If you're buying tickets to a future game, be sure to do the entire, silly safety protocol procedure in advance at home, which we didn't do. There was no hard stop to do so while buying through Ticketmaster, and many people were delayed at the gates, trying to work through downloading an app and taking the photos.

I guess I wasn't as encouraged as some of you all. Much of the game looked like pond hockey, with bad defensive lapses both ways. I know, it's early in the season, but the first Blues-Avs game I watched didn't look like this. The Sharks showed how zone entry and control works on a power play, and most of the Coyotes' PP looked like its old familiar self. Kessel's PP goal was only the result of some good bounces and a weak backhand shot. I'd be very happy if they get 4 points in the upcoming games against Vegas.

I blame Kane 100% for that. In real time it looked dirty with where he initiated the hit. They had speed going into the boards.

Watching more closely he intentionally pushes his stick into OELs head. Drove it into the boards.

Someone should fight him next time we play.
Who on this team will fight Kane?

Kane won’t fight. He’s a p***y.
He fought Reaves?? A quick Google shows fights against Gudbransun, Auston Watson, Tanner Pearson, and Chara. I think that would stand up very good vs the Coyote's whole roster. FTR I'm not a Kane fan but I am a realist.

I agree. I don't doubt he'd drop the gloves with anyone we have. I know some of the new guys we signed will scrap but not sure how well.

We scored some goals and the corpse of Phil Kessel looks like he might be alive again. You know, give a starving man a cracker...

The officiating, by the way, was horrendous in this game. I guess they’re rusty, too.

We had Tim Peel.

That’s all you need to know.

Officiating crews are going to run series wide. So if they stink one night, odds are they’re going to stink for the rest of the set.

Was able to watch the 1st and early 2nd, since i missed those.

We still start a little slow. I kind of want to put that on the start time, as i think the first non-dusk or night game is a little weird for all.

Brassard and Keller look like they have something going. There were a few times that they used the space nicely and created good movement in the offensive zone.

Kessel looks better. Remember, he had 9 points in his first 13 last year. Then, kind of wallowed away. I think the injury was an influence, but hard to say if a similar fate happens.

My biggest concern is that we do still look like the type of team that we looked like early last year. Up-tempo, creating more, using speed, etc. Then, it crashed hard and we didn't recover. Maybe the injuries were worse losses than we realized last season, but my mark is at 20 games - if we can take game 21 and start to see more focused improvements, that is a big key. We can't be the team that wins the early part of the season but can't manage the middle and late parts.

Hopefully by game 20 is when the new guys start to really show their value. Pitlick has had some great shifts without affecting the game, yet. Brassard has been hitting the metal. Larsson should become our PK leader.

Tocchet says either Capo or Gross comes in tonight in place of Oliver.

I didn’t see it that way. OEL was too damn casual going into the boards like he always does and he knew Kane was coming. Looked right at him
And that is why he tried to brace himself. OEL played that exactly like he should have. Kane got his stick under OEL's arm and lifted his stick. OEL lost his balance. The dirty part was that Kane used his stick AFTER OEL lost his balance to push his head into the boards. I like the way Kane plays the game, but that was down right dirty.

Its too early to tell. Keep in mind san jose was a turnover machine and train wreck last game, they played poorly. If we assume our D will be decent and our goal tending is great, it boils down to offensive chances and our PP being better. Good to see Kessel and OEL going early, if they lead our scoring, that is a good sign. Keller/Hayton/Chych/Schmaltz/DVO can carry more weight too we hope.

I agree at 15-20 games, systems and team chemistry will be in place for all teams, we will see what we get by then. In the mean time, any early points are good, 3 out of 4 to start, I'll take that.

Patty Kane fought John Scott once.

I might add, that's all-star MVP John Scott. ;)
