Yep, I'm tempering my excitement until we play a quality team. As much as I like the first 2 games, from the dumpster fire that was last season, it is only 2 games against probably a bottom 5 team in the league, so let's see how they do vs Vegas.

I agree with tempering excitement. However beating bottom 5 teams is a lot better than the alternative...

Literally nobody in this forum has ever said that or even implied it (unless they were on my ignore list). It’s now seemingly poplar to pretend this was once a narrative that has since been proven false. Neither of those are true. It was never a narrative and it hasn’t yet been proven false anyway.
I’ve said it. I even said I’d package him in a trade while he still has value. I sure hope I’m wrong though. I usually am. I thought Strome was going to be amazing, same with Turris. I was wrong on both. I’m taking the other path this time and hoping I’m wrong again.

Have to admit I only was looking at the head the first time. Looking at it again now I notice his left leg went into the boards awkwardly. But he was holding his mouth after going down.... broken jaw maybe??

Going to say though I don't think Kane intended to hurt him. OEL has a habit of drifting towards the boards like that and Kane didn't bump him that hard to knock him off balance.

I agree. I blame OEL more than Kane.
It’s actually the first real hit where OEL’s behavior after the hit was warranted. Usually he flips and shit goes everywhere when he’s bumped.

Look close. Kane's stick came up under OEL's arm and OEL lost his balance. NOT OEL's fault.

Nope. There is a growing number of victory dancers trumpets their triumph over the evil Hayton haters. They never existed. It’s a figment of your imagination.

Someone literally quoted you and admitted to it. Just chill with the score keeping. None of this matters. I figured we could enjoy a watchable team with minimal drama but apparently not.

If you want to talk about 'imagination' then we can talk about how the coaches immediately put Hayton on the top line after you were adamant he needed to be sheltered based on an analytics argument you didn't even slightly understand. ;)

Some small sample size 5v5 oddities:
Kessel has taken more dzone faceoffs than Larsson
Goligoski has only been put out for 1 dzone faceoff, OEL for 11
Pitlick and Brassard have had a pretty positive impact on overall possession

I don't know how long this will hold, but it appears the coaches do not believe in 'specialized' (or at least nowhere near last year) lines anymore and are spreading all responsibilities around equally. No more special treatment may explain Kessel picking it up a bit with his overall effort.

You’re inventing this all in your own head. I said Hayton had to show it because he hadn’t yet. You’ve got an imaginary adversary here. It’s got nothing to do with me. Funny you accuse me of being dramatic, when you’re he one who responded to something positive Hayton did with a “but he’s supposedly a bust” sarcasm. In answer to nothing. It’s not a thing. It was never a thing. We’re all glad Hayton is doing well and there’s no need for grudge posts against invisible users.

If you're capable of recognizing the post was meaningless sarcasm then why would you even bother quoting me to begin with? No one is paying you to manicure the forum 40 lawns and keep the imaginary record straight.

Less of this:

More drinking and enjoying the team this year.

These narratives run away with themselves and become so canonized so quickly. It’ll just be more annoying later. But you’re right, this is significantly more annoying. So I’ll absolutely stop. :)

I blame Kane 100% for that. In real time it looked dirty with where he initiated the hit. They had speed going into the boards.

Watching more closely he intentionally pushes his stick into OELs head. Drove it into the boards.

Someone should fight him next time we play.

Day to day sounds like concussion because they’re tricky to diagnose. If it’s something else he may be able to play through it short term.

He smacked his jawline/temple right on the top of the boards and was grabbing his face. I'd be really shocked if it was a 'lower body' injury and/or day to day.
