Depends on how our D and goaltending do. If they play solid like they did against the Leafs, we will be in this game.

I predict a 6-4 game. Habs score a empty netter.
* Riding high confidence. Caufield gets another goal and Dach has a 3 pt night. Slaf has a goal and assist.
* Wings top 6 is not that much better than ours.
* Habs bottom 6 better? Argument can be made
* Wings D is better. How much? Hard to say due to how less of a sample size we have with our young D.
* Goaltending is close to the same IMO.

Worse two teams in allowing goals last year. 317 by the Habs and 310 by the Wings. Surprising stat is Habs were 18th lowest at goals per game (3.22) and the Wings were 7th lowest at 2.74. I would have assumed they would have scored more than us last year.

Has anyone watched Arizona last night? How bad are they? Do we still have a chance?

We need another derail to move to bottom 5 again. Lots of negatives happened last year and in season momentum is a big thing. Especially at the start of the season.

I said it before and will say it again... we will have a better record than 7-23-4 from Oct-Jan 1 this season.

Habs have issues but I see a better start to the season and also to gain a little momentum with our youth as the season moves along. Bottom 5-10 or bottom 8-12 range. Possible we are bottom 5 again but I'm not banking on it.

They are pure trash. Our only chance will be to move up. We aren't finishing worse than the yotes or Chicago. No way.
How is it possible that after years of sucking so bad and getting high draft picks they are still so bad... sigh... I had my heart set on Bedard. If we still had Paquette it's a one for one trade... but alas.

Maybe Panthers will tank hard :naughty:

I got the Panthers in the wild card mix. Just in our just out. Doubt they slip to bottom 10. Anything is possible but they would need a really big derail for it to be a top 10 pick IMO. You never know though

The D will eventually get exposed. The veterans suck, and half of them have basically no experience at all. Also can’t rely on Suzuki/Caufield to score all our goals. If we finish outside the top 5, it’s because some of the young guys stepped up in a big way.

I don't believe we are as bad as what the latest flavor of the month indicates. You're never as good as your best season and you're not as bad as your worse.

The D is tricky to project for a full season. We agree there. However, we held very strong against the potent Leafs attack and two of our best guys are not playing (Eddy and Matheson).

This is not a sure shot bottom 5 finish. I stand firm.

Well... Habs - stanley cup finalists one year and dead last the next. So there is a precedent :)

You're never as good as your best season and you're not as bad as your worse.
