GDT: GAME 2 HURRICANES @ PANDAS

Hello Everyone,


I hate to see this.

Canes gotta go back to simplify the game where they don’t have no stupid turnovers.

Bruins are forcing it to them to get them to be vulnerable and they are failing in to it..

Their powerplay is really sucking life out of them.

They need to capitalize on every powerplay.. they should be up at least 3 or tied with Bruins..
They doing things right on it and it’s just not getting backing on the net..

I don’t know what it is.. when you can’t score on 5 on 5 your powerplay gotta answer for you..

They do need more from top to bottom depth to step up more ..it’s kind showing a little bit..

Bruins didn’t have it.. it starting to come for them..
Mzraek is very , very very good goalie... He’s being to aggressive in the net. He gotta settle down and be more calmer..
He’s seem to be chasing in the net and too aggressively that probably hurt team confidence, imo.
Brind’Amour should take him out and start with Mc next period..
It’s to wake up the team.. I think Mc should get some starts and see how the team reacts in game 3 maybe game 4


I might be wrong .. I just see it it.. Canes are the better team..


I still believe Canes can win this series. Players gotta step up more and go back to five man unit on the ice.. Go back to their philosophy and strengthen the powerplay better..
They did a good job in game 1 and needs to going at it with shoot first mentality with crashing blue paint..

Gotta score on powerplay opportunity..because Bruin will take dumb penalties..
Canes are not capitalizing and special teams is sucking the life out them..

Looks like a game between a team spending to the cap to compete for the cup and a team at the floor in a wait and see mode. I hope in the next few years we can be that other team.

Just wondering, what would you suggest he change? Besides, he isn’t in charge of special teams, right? That’s on the assistant coaches, if I’m not mistaken.

He was the special teams coach under Peters and didn't delegate that when he was promoted

You can't march on Stanley cup finals only with 5-on-5 game. Our special teams are abysmal, historically bad. Bruins are much better than Caps and Isles, so there's that.

Yupp. Poor execution and whenever a goalie lets in a softie, it generally deflates a team. Makes them lose confidence as well.

I understand the new lines. Makes sense. Aho with Williams and Nino. OK. But not Svech in the third line. This has no sense. Put him with Staal and teuvo in the second. Svech and Teuvo play well together. Or I am wrong?

Can you help jog my memory? Was he in charge of the power play or penalty kill? I can’t remember. But I do remember that the Hurricanes’ penalty kill was amazing for a long period of time.

This game has truly been embarrassing for the Hurricanes. I'd like for us to win the next 2 at home after 2 losses in a row similar to the Capitals series, but our luck might run out with being down 2 games in a series.

Our PP has been s*** as expected, but now our PK is a trainwreck too. Special teams have destroyed the Hurricanes. It was only a matter of time I suppose with our PP being trash, but I'm a little surprised at how bad our PK has been this series.

Atleast we can try new things this 3rd period without worrying about the score. See what line combinations and which goalie is better. (Maybe try something new on the PP.) f***ing anything ffs. If we just stand pat we will get swept

Dominated 16 minutes of the first period?? Did you have a different game on? Bruins didn’t have many chances but neither did the Canes in the first 16.

Mrazek has let in a couple soft ones today but he’s also had a couple really good saves. The Hurricanes weren’t winning this game with prime Hasek in net. Bruins have just dominated the first 2 periods.

Good/great saves, IMO, are worthless if you let in soft ones.

Good/great saves, IMO, are worthless if you let in soft ones.

Exactly. There are some goalies that make a lot of great high-danger saves, but it cancels out because their low-danger save percentage is so low. And those goalies are unfortunately kind of worthless. In goaltending, it’s about quantity, not quality of saves.

Edit: I’m not calling Mrazek worthless, by the way. But those great saves mean nothing because of those softies.
