I think the book was already out that Phaneuf was a shell of his former self at that point, thus the weak return. If Doughty keeps playing like this, then yeah it'll continue to hurt his value. But I think he's still mostly renown. We got a nice return for Johnson (even with the pick) thanks to an incompetent GM in Columbus.
Trading Drew Doughty would be the dumbest thing the Kings have ever done.
It would be franchise killing, Unless Crosby is coming back the other way.
Drew would be the best player in any trade (except Stamkos,Crosby,Giroux,Weber,Malkin).
You don't trade a once in a decade Defender, that is 23 years old.
Some people are acting like Drew is over 30.....
He hasn't shown he's a "once in a decade defender" all year and hasn't even played close to be a $6/mil a year player. I do believe we should give him more time to turn his game around, but at this rate he's more Bouwmeester than Weber. If he's still ******** the bed by playoff time, then its time to reevaluate his role. There's some very good players we could get for him.
Without looking at the name, If I told you your favorite Hockey team had.
A defender who was 23 years of age, already won"
1. Stanley Cup
2. Gold Medal (Olympics)
3. Gold Medal (World JR)
4. Norris finalist
Also
32 playoff Games (games that matter).
9 Goals 18A 27points.
Would you trade him ?
If he keeps up this awful play, then yes. If he can't get it together come playoff time then it should be considered an option...
I didn't say trade any of those other guys, we're talking about Doughty here, a D-man who's success directly correlates to us winning, although someone we've won with him sucking the whole way, minus that nice hit against *****man. If he can't pull his head out of his ass soon, something needs to be done.
In other news, it looks like Shattenkirk would cost a lot to get and I doubt St. Louis would trade him to another team in the West unless they were getting something good in return.
What's with your hardon for Shattenkirk? You're completely overvaluing the guy. Go to a Blues fan and propose Doughty for Shattenkirk and practically anything else on their team and I guarantee you they say yes in a heartbeat. You're being reactionary.
Shattenkirk as a #1, minute-eating all around d-man over Doughty? Yeesh.
Shattenkirk has been better than Petro all year, just ask any Blues fan. That also means he's outplayed Doughty this year as well. He's gonna be real real good and still plenty young. And any trade involving Doughty and Shattenkirk would most likely have us getting something else in return, I would hope. Doughty's been horrid, no goals, minus player, even outplayed by Voynov, its ****ing pathetic.

Let me guess... you're a fantasy hockey player? Doughty is ten times the defenseman Shattenkirk is.
Fantasy hockey is a joke. Guess we'll have to just sit back and watch to see if he can turn it around, which I'm hoping he will. So far, he hasn't given any indication. You guys need to watch more Blues games as well, Shattenkirk is a damn good D-man for his age.
Not noticing a young D-man on the ice is usually a good thing.
Great job. Drew looks more complacent/content than ever after winning his hardware.
...Because having to play a more defensive role since 2 of your defensive defenseman are out for the year means you're getting complacent offensively. Definitely.
