Come on. Somebody else vote for 1979 in the poll. Don't let me be the only one!

Almost voted 1971, but I was too young to really appreciate that series. I actually remember the Finals more.
The 71 series as a whole is easily the best series but game 7 in 79 is easily the best Habs game I ever saw.

Since people are having this conversation. Caufield's "goals above expected" is at -0.7 goal, in other words, he should have 5-6 goals (more 6 than 5). The majority of his shots are low quality perimeter chances with low percentage of success.

People thinking he should have more than that just think that goalies can't do the job they are paid for. Probably the result of watching Allen/Monty plays the last 2.5 years.

As a note, Anderson sit dead last in the league in "goals above expected" at -5.3.

I had a check yesterday. Doc looked at me, he said, "You've been watching Canadiens games right?", I replied, "Yes!". He told me the best my liver has looked in years! Come on Caufield, what yah doing to me?

I don’t agree with this at all.

We will have to disagree, he has been easily contained and is rarely dangerous.
No goals in 9-10 games says it all.
What's interesting is he's getting points by using his playmaking, which is actually nice to see because it is indictative of his overall hockey talent, he's more than just a shooter. Cole is the kind of guy that might not score the most goals, but he scores big goals. However, I think he's forcing his shots and he's getting all tangled up in the defenders trying to use them for screens. It honestly reminds me of Ovechkin when he would be in a slump (or playing us in the playoffs ;))

Slafkovsky is also starting to find him consistently and they are starting to build a bit of chemistry. If we can get that kind of traction, we can move them back with Suzuki and the two will finally have a clear cut 3rd linemate to dig and make space. RHP wasn't cutting it, and that's why the two are split currently.

I’m not lodging anything. I just think you’re wrong.
I'm just reporting the stats. You can go check yourself where Caufield is taking most of his shots from, it's right there on the NHL website on the Edge section. And moneypuck has the stats for the all the shots attempts too.

Cole is the first legitimate sniper we have had since Richer, we as fans want to see a 40 goal scorer on this roster and Caufield is the most promising player to do it.

How an iconic franchise like this hasn't had a 100 point player since 1986 and a 40 goal scorer since 94 is mind boggling.

I literally can't tell what part of my post you're responding to, but I agree its ridiculous. That's why I find the KH regime to be so sorely overdue. Actual analytics, no more SHOOT DA PUCK DA SYSTEM crap.

I am agreeing with you that Cole is doing alot of good things with playmaking and we need him to succeed. Hab fans deserve a legitimate forward star.

would love to see these lines:

Newhook-Suzuki-Ylonen<-You don't lose mobility with anderson off this line and you gain finishing.

Caufield-Monahan-Slafkovsky<-Max space for CC + 2 players to feed him passes.

Pearson-Dvorak-Gallagher<-Could be a strong vet line that can eat minutes and score.

Pezzetta-Evans-Anderson<-Fast and tough, the 4th line continues to do its job pressuring and wearing down the opponent. It sucks that anderson has that contract but he actually would be great for that line, and I bet he would probably finally score. Ylonen is much more useful in the top6.

I also have a feeling that it will be a bad beatdown tonight. No Arber means NOBODY can do SFA should bruins decide to act rough and tough. Pezz is a lightweight and Anderson is a joke.
