Sutter's post game comments regarding goaltending were interesting. He sounds less and less committed to Quick.

I think he's just keeping that feeling of competition alive between the two. He knows it will make both of them play better. It's never a bad thing to have two hot goaltenders.

....either that or Dean told him to say good things about JB to up his trade value :sarcasm:

That Cooke-esque elbow...

Wings fans need some anatomy lessons. That's an elbow to the head?

What's Bernies real twitter cause the one posted on page 7 is dropping so many f bombs at other users lol.

Edit oh no he deleted. :( but I did take a screen shot cause I had a feeling lol.

Smith likely got rattled from the jarring nature of the hit. They thought he took an elbow to the head, but he clearly did not.

I'm fine about people thinking it should have been interference, but they go so crazy far saying it was "Cooke like" and a blow to the head.

just checked out the red wings GDT.

99% of them are crying about the refs. I personally thought this was one sloppy game with neither team controlling/dominating the play for any significant amount of time. So funny how they're all blaming their loss on the refs-- when the one goal they score is a FLUKE one.

A big difference in the game was that OUR elite players made elite plays while theirs were relatively invisible. Just don't think the wings fans are used to being jobbed by the refs so they're awfully sensitive to it, refs screw us all the time! We're just now a good enough team to not let it decide games.

Great to finally get a regulation win without playing our best hockey, ALMOST makes up for the debacle in detroit. ALMOST, that one still stings. We absolutely dominated that game but got the worst result.

Kudos to our Dman plug ins holding the fort! these last 8 or 9 games have been awesome limiting chances. Looks a lot like last year's team, with us actually scoring some goals this year, rather than losing 1-0 or 2-1. Thank god we have carter for a full season.

Motivation. Sutter is a master at it.

Quick needs to be pushed again after his slow start.

If the Kings make the playoffs, I don't think Bernier would see a start unless Quick is hurt.

The hit on cleary was not a penalty at all. His visor cut him.
The penner collision could have been ruled interference. Definately not an elbow to the head. I love how Penner tweeted that pic.
Bernier stood on his head duringthe first 10 minutes of the game. Even without that goal looks like his glove needs to be broken in or something. He was struggling to catch the puck all night.
Sloppy win, but a W is a W.

Penner hit on Smith was incidental. if anything Penner 2 minutes for interference. that type of collision happens countless times from two player unaware of each other and passing through the same space. Penner is turning right to support the puck across the ice. Smith is back up and covering the slot, while also creating an outlet pass/lane if DET gets the puck. elbows are down, feet are on the ice - there is nothing malicious about the hit.

JB played well and obviously had some rebound control issues. he played well last night despite the rebounds. his angles and spacing were exceptional all night. he was also seeing the puck through traffic well and when he didn't his angles were dead on to stop the puck.

thought DET really controlled tempo and flow much of the night, especially the 1st. once LA started though it was obvious the momentum shift. once LA starts with the bodies and up ice tempo, with good gap coverage they are hard to beat. as the game progressed it was almost as if LA started choking DET. if our PP was worth a damn consistently, then the 10 minute 5 on 3 would have buried the Wings.

i didn't like the start and tempo. Sutter obviously didnt either. what i did like though is something this team has learned. not to panic, but to crank up their game and get back in to it. with DET essentially dominating the 1st and being down, LA years ago would have paniced.

King's pass was great, but Kopi totally undressed Howard....that was a thing of beauty

Penner should have gone off for interference for sure. It was accidental but you're still responsible for your stick, skates and body.

Also, I loathe that new penalty for faceoffs. It's unnecessary and stops the flow of the game.

Oh, Wings fans. They can never lose cleanly. When they win in Detroit, they deserved it, despite it being the Howard show. When they lose here, it was the refs. Shrug.

I was impressed by their game plan, though. They were backchecking HARD up the middle with their speed and getting in on the forecheck like we normally would. Having all that speed allowed them to beat us to the pucks in the corner when we would inevitably dump it in. Very well coached game.

I'm happy we were able to get 2 points out of that sloppy game. I mean, guys were flubbing passes left and right, falling with no contact, etc. I still want a .gif of Voynov tripping over the blueline. If we would have lost the game, I would have set that to the price is right losing horn and used that as the game summary

When things are going well, everything just falls into place, it seems. I nearly flipped my coffee table when Kopi scored that beauty!

Oh, and I thought Bernie played really well up until his self-inflicted shutout buster; after that, it seems like he got in his own head and started leaving the puck everywhere. Still, was in the right places at the right times--good for him making the most of his playing time! I'm stoked that both goalies have limited our opponents to 1 goal per game (2 vs. the ducks) in each game lately! Props to the youngest defense in the NHL for growing! Like I said before--these kids are only gonna get better, not worse!

I am staying the hell away from there...I am sure it will just lead to me getting riled up, and then saying something resulting in an infraction of some sort.

Kopitar is PPG right now because of this goal. Nice to see.

Best point per game of his career so far, yet people dogged him much of the season and figured he was still hurt. Fans need to show some patience around here.

No. Quick gets Vancouver, Bernier gets Nashville and quick gets St. Louis. 3 games in 4 nights.

Bernier always plays Nashville, so you know he'll start there. Quickie gets the other two, almost a forgone conclusion.

This month is going to make it very evident that we're finally past the stage of just looking to get in the playoffs. The Kings are going to cement their regular season standing somewhere between 2-5 (#1 is unreachable).

Gonna be about positioning now.

Chicago could play .500 hockey for the rest of the season (say going 15-14) and they'd end up with 65 points. To catch them, we'd need to go 21-8-1, and that's for a tie. That's a .717 winning percentage, assuming they only go just a hair above .500 the rest of the way. Barring a big collapse, Chicago is uncatchable for us.

Does anyone still seriously doubt that we'll make the playoffs? I've never even came to questioning it personally.

Wait until we lose two in a row and watch the chicken little crowd return.

 Good for her. And I hate the comments of "You're supposed to be a role model..." BS. We are all supposed to be a role model to someone, even if it's just our own family. Those people just want a reason to validate their ability to say some nasty things on the social media but not permit the very person they are commenting to to reply in kind.

LOOOOOOOOOOOL! Love it! Penner needs to run the Kings Twitter account on off days. Imagine that!

Considering how our Twitter feed was during the playoffs, maybe he was? :sarcasm:

Can someone post or PM me what he said, because it's down now.

I'm not supporting the Wings here, but the reffing was a bit awkward, both ways. I wouldn't go so far as to say it was 'bad' but they would let stuff go for a while, then call things in spurts. Like how we went down for two PK's early, one of which was questionable, then how Detroit was dealt two lengthy 5-on-3's. Some of those penalties were very justified, but some were a bit weak too, Penner's trip in the first for example, or Voynov's hooking infraction. Wasn't a bad game reffing wise, but it had it's eyebrow raising calls too.

the Hockey God's made things right by this win after the DET game last week

My thoughts exactly. We were owed two points. This just evens things out.

I would post the screen capture, but i would probably get an infraction.

Here is the missing tweet:

There was a lot of Red Wings jersey at Staples tonight very disappointing but **** them Kings ****ing Rocked

Follow the @theroyalhalf, he posted the screen capture.

Honestly, this might be a top 10 goal from him

Said that as it happened.

Yup, the refs are the reason the Wings scored one goal. That is the thing I'll never get about hockey fans in general. Kings fans do it too. I've seen Kings fan blame a goaltender when the team scored one or no goals. The Wings scored one friggin goal last night.. well, they really didn't even score it themselves. The goalie gifted it to them. Talk about making excuses for a loss. The Kings didn't play well and I'd say the Wings played better but I think the opposite was true a few weeks ago. Funny how those things sort of even themselves out over the course of the season. Those are the bounces but blaming the refs for the loss is nothing more than an excuse for scoring only one goal. You don't win a whole lot of games scoring one goal.

Also, Dan Cleary is a *****. Saw him on the tele whining to the ref after he got hit cleanly, shoulder to shoulder, from the side and bumped his head on the glass which caused his shield to cut his eye. Apparently since he got an boo boo from his own gear on a clean hit, the refs were supposed to show him some sympathy or something.

Gotta love tie-breaker scenarios. The first game vs. Detroit doesn't actually count.

"TIE-BREAKER WEIRDNESS: The Kings victory over the Wings is actually the first game in the Kings/Wings season series to actually count. The earlier game in Detroit, being the first of two games at Joe Louis, doesn’t count in terms of the season-series tie-breaker."

I don't remember the Red Wings being upset when the linesman allowed the Datsyuk goal after he was offsides on the play in the last Kings/Wings game. :dunno:

I can see an argument for something against Penner, but the ref determined that it was incidental contact and nothing was gained from the contact.

The Cleary play that the team and coach complained about is just grasping at straws. I wonder if the coach changed his tune after seeing the replay on the clear shoulder check.

As long as the King keeping winning in regulation, they won't have to worry about any crazy tie breakers.
