Tavares - Nylander together tells me Keefe believes Monday was just a hiccup.

Before Monday the team was 11-3-1.
On Monday the team was winning 5-1

the meltdown is not indicative of what the team "REALLY" is, it is by any measure, an abnormality to the rest of the season. It is a hiccup.
Coach should note what happened, think about how to handle it in the future, but should not over-react.

hey Keefe swap nylander and marner ffs. or at least put Nylander on the line with Kerfoot and put Mikheyev on a line with Tavares to spread out offense.

Why are you trying to fit a squared peg in a round hole?

Id do the following lines to test out if we can still get the same production out of matthews and marner:

Hyman Matthews Nylander
Thornton Tavares Marner
Mikheyev Kerfoot Galchenyuk
Robertson Spezza Boyd

Team is fine but players individually needs to get going and may need some adjustments after 5 games.

Tavares is still ppg (8pts last 8 games), however to me Nylander on the same line has been laying eggs lately in terms of production

There's no rush to get him into the line up. Would rather give him a couple of weeks to practice with the team and adjust to Keefe's system before considering any game action.

I forget who it was, but it was said he was going to be working with our development staff. Keefe's quote hints at that as well.

Obviously that can happen outside of game action or with game action as well.

Don't like the 3rd line at all - not one of them are generating anything right now. Especially Soup
Vesey has already been kicked in the arse and demoted and still shows nothing

Me thinks Leafs coaching staff might be getting a bit frustrated.

I see Vesey tried to play with a bit more compete last game but it was in spurts and not overly effective.

If he’s not going to bring above average offense he needs to make up for it by being grittier, more intense, and distributive on the forecheck winning more battles

Kill arguably the best line in the NHL because your second line cant figure it out on game 15? Nah. Tavares and Nylander need to just figure their shit out. They were great last year.

shortened season; we need points - can't afford to lose em against team like Ottawa to "let them figure it out"

team points matter more than having the best line in hockey and losing team points

Could well be the other way around. Coaches may feel he's frustrated himself which can harm his game too.

I can't find it, but there was a tweet with a quote from Keefe about Vesey, and how he hasn't really stood out at all.

I think once Galchenyuk can join the team, and get a couple practices in, Vesey will be out, unless he comes out flying in the next couple.

Boyd, Petan, and even Engvall have capitalized in different ways with their limited opportunities, and Vesey has been given the largest opportunity, in the top 6, and then on line 3, and has now fallen to line 4. It's not looking good for Vesey. I don't think he's a bad player, but he just hasn't contributed enough to stay in the lineup regularly.

If they gave him that kind of time (3 long conversations in 10 days), it is clear that they value him.

You don't do that with a depth guy who you don't value very much.
