As long as they are winning shifts, they aren't getting scored on a lot. That's a big positive for a couple kids.

I was looking for as good a way of saying this. They're rookies. I bagged on Berggren a bit earlier, but that third line has looked better and better. If anything, they might be earning some time with Kane and trying to be our legit 2nd line but then you're kinda shafting Tarasenko.
They definitely were. But it helps that just about everyone made the playoffs back then.

They also had a young Steve Yzerman, Adam Oates (I'm still mad about that trade), Probert, Kocur, Gerard Gallant.

The rebuilding Wings had the best player in the league not named Gretzky or Lemieux, and two of the best fighters in the league so they didn't have to take crap from anybody.

And the 80s in general were just a fun time for hockey, the way it was played. Goalies were lousy and everyone seemed to play fast and loose.

I don't recall ever saying the Wings would dominate the league and be undefeated through the first 15 games of the season, so it's literally just you making things up to take out your frustration on someone.

Kind of an interesting take tbh. Larkin is on my short list for most disappointing player so far. I'd highlight Edvinsson as arguably the biggest exception to the "dud play" grade the overall team gets.
Dude... No one said you were saying that either but stop acting like you didn't hawk my posts or others and engage with me over the direction of the team/yzerman/etc. You're arguing with someone else in another thread about the same things, red wings rebuild and team expectations. Am I taking out frustration on you specifically, sure, but it's not like I personally hate you; I've just interacted before (many times) and know your view. We both actually want this team to win.

If you want to talk hockey/red wings with me again, Larkins the problem as the 2nd best player on the team? Idk...

Why isn't everyone else the problem like Compher/Copp/Berggren/*Kasper/Tarasenko/Kane. Larkins not playing great, but he's got everyone's best players stacked against him. Larkin/Raymond/Edvinsson/Seider/Talbot seems to be all this team has right now. (imo)

Red Wings actually drafted Probert/Kocur/Grimson all in the same draft :cf:, though I don't think Grimson ever played for them.

Disappointment is relative. I have far higher expectations of Larkin than I do Copp/Berggren/etc.
Larkin having less even-strength points than Copp 17 games into the season is, imo, one of the problems this team has had so far. Larkin can be far better than he's been.

Maybe he could do more, Copps third in goals on the team and Larkin as 10 goals total.

Why was Ras and Ed scratched?

Ed was hurt after taking a puck to the knee. Ras was a healthy scratch, I'm guessing for lackluster play.

Agreed. Aside from goalies playing with waterlogged leather anchors strapped to their legs, the game wasn't defensively coached to death like it is now.

Coaches and players reviewing plays on the bench using ipads. "See where you tried to make a play there? You should've just chipped the puck in deep and gone for a line change."

Larkin is at least producing regularly which is not the case for most of the team. I don't think he has been great, but far better than most of the rest even if he isn't up to his normal level. The dud stuff is more on how the team as a whole which includes all the players is playing. We are playing very poorly and if Talbot and Lyon in 1-2 games had even only been decent, we might only have 1-3 wins right now instead of 7.

Outshot, outchanced, and sit back the odd time we get a lead. Coach and players are all to blame and it is definitely a depressing spot for out team to be in. We could at least be fun to watch, but nope we play as unexciting a style as there is.

I thought Ras was a healthy scratch as well. But looking at GDT for the Sharks game it says he is listed day to day with some injury.

Ah ok. Someone had posted a tweet saying he was a healthy scratch.

Are you telling me not everything on Twitter is accurate?!?!?

Yeah - add Adam Graves to that list where we didn't need to move him, but it was a way to move Klima and then get Carson in return...Punching faces and scoring goals...The good ol'days.

Back then GMs typically drafted talent in rounds 1 and 2 then rounds 3 and up were for tough guys and goalies.

That North-American hierarchy usage is so damn boring, that I think I can die sooner than I expected.

Oh, well Edvinsson will get injured, what should we do?

So Let's put Chiarot - Seider together, that's fine. They have been together earlier.

And then put the next big million guys Petry and Holl together, no matter what the handnesses are.

And then Johansson-Gustafsson together, no what the handnesses are.

This is so f***ing stupid thing, that for me, it's either tanking, or you don't care. Or the coach is putting pressure to GM, that I'm using these crap tools in an order you just made for me.

Something moronic in any ways.

At Europe, we would be smart. We would build the best possible D-pairs, because we want to win. Not keep hieararchies. Because the pair number does not f***ing matter, this is a team sport. We have seen that Chiarot-Holl worked together. Petry can't hold on at Top4, so Let's put him with Gustafsson for 3rd pair.

And for Top pair, when you lose Edvinsson, try this kid Johansson with Seider for first time. Maybe he will overachieve, after getting a chance.

Oh my god, that looks GOOD, BUT WE WILL NEVER SEE IT LIKE THIS:

Johansson - Seider
Chiarot - Holl
Gustafsson - Petry

That could be smart thinking, the European way. This boring American hierarchy is everywhere, you swap Lalonde for another idiot, and same shit will continue. There's no smart moves, there's just that damn hierarchy we'll see for 82 games, season after season.

Keep the damn small chemistries together, and don't chance all the D-pairs, my god this is stupid. SO DAMN STUPID that my head is gonna explode.

In a situation, when we have 3 righties and 3 lefties, someone will still put them on salary order. Jesus christ. That's a Donald Trump's world.
