Would there be any benefit to them going around being super serious and miserable? Lots of sports psychology and historical precedent says no. Like all things it's a balance, need times to be serious and laser-focused, times for harsh truths and blunt speech, times too to relax a bit and have some fun. No team will succeed that isn't enjoying itself.

This roster does have an accountability problem, and an intensity problem, and a consistency problem. And more besides, I'm sure. But I'm not going to judge them or think they're not trying to address those things simply because they've got some smiles on their faces or are messing around for part of a practice. That's too narrow a view, IMO. Their balance and their whole approach might well be wrong. But this alone doesn't tell me that.

Agreed.

But I don't like seeing smiles and kidding around in games. After a goal is scored, OK. But that's it.

Have a roast in the oven. It’s frigid and windy and I worked from home today so why the f*** not.

Beef and Bruins, at least if the team sucks tonight dinner will be good.
As long as it isn't a rump roast. Rump roast and Bruins are NOT a good combo! 😇

Agreed, in principle. But it must be conceded that these young athletes these days are built differently. Their approach to life and sport is considerably different to what most athletes were like even 20 years ago. And I think you can't just ignore that or try and 'beat' it out of them. That's counter-productive. The need for basic accountability and responsibility, for fostering a good culture and hard edge and a ruthlessness and a winning mentality don't change. But the ways to go about those do change depending on the material you've got to work with. The best coaches meet these young players where they're at and turn their attitude/approach into a strength.

A guy like Pasta plays best both when he's fully dialed in AND having fun and being chatty and engaged with his teammates. That's who he is and many now are similar. It can be a problem, but it doesn't have to be. Just need to harness it properly.

Watching behind the B. They are showing the stuff for Jack Edwards. That was well done. He seems to keep up with events as he asked Matty Falconer if he was getting any sleep. Matt and his wife just had their first baby (a girl).
Matty seems like such a good dude. The Jack part was well done and it was good to see the players and others talking with him.

IMO it is a good news if roster is loose and having fun.

They could grumble, say learned and empty phrases and then get no shots on goal OR they could have fun in practice working hard and concentrated and bring positive energy to the game and win or put on a good show
Result tonight will be key to these smiles today. If its the same garbage effort then F them and there smiles
