I didn’t say he hasn’t been bad. I said the obsession to be critical it seems solely of him (with the occasional Kunin Ruuta shot) is strange to me.

To give my 2 cents about Ferraro is that he is supposed to be a defensively minded defencemen for us, so him not looking like one is naturally frustrating. If he was scoring at the pace as prime Burns, no one would care.

Because:

1) They often don't do anything good to offset the bad

and

2) they seem to be exempt from any sort of acknowledgement by the coaching staff that they are bad and face no consequences for their failings. If Thompson was directly responsible for 2 goals in a game he'd probably be sent back to the cuda. Ferraro can do it and still maintain his regular role with nobody batting an eye.

That's fine. That's not what I'm referring to.

Listen, if you can find a single criticism of anyone else on the Sharks in this thread I'll let it go. Just one. (Hint: You won't). So either we played the most complete period in the history of hockey (outside of Mario) or there's this perverse need to spotlight only him and his mistakes (which there are plenty). The way I see it it's like hedging your bets. Either he does something bad that hurts the team allowing all the negative posts in the world, or he doesn't which helps the team. Win-win for some I guess.

Either way, I'll let it go. Regardless of how bad he's been he deserves better from a bunch of armchair GMs.

There it is.

Not to mention, Ferraro hasn't just been his usual sub-par self lately. He's been (as that Reddit chart shows) exceptionally bad--like the worst defenseman in the league lately.

And I think especially with Macklin's return and some more decent play from defensemen like Thompson and Liljegren recently, we're getting more frustrated that this kind of play from Ferraro is limiting what our guys can accomplish offensively (because they end up trapped in their own zone instead)--and we've seen that no, just because you're a Sharks defenseman doesn't mean you have to be THAT bad.

Ferraro is not helping you right now.

Ferraro has been so bad that most on here are to the point they would actually point out that he made even just the simplest of passes.

But he hasn't even been able to make one of them this season.

Pretty much everyone on this team is worthy of criticism, but Ferraro and Kunin are just the worst and they get nothing but praise from the org

If anything, we're just balancing the scales out

I'm surprised Gio Smith hasn't fought yet. The last time he played he had a fight, and it was like that was the last time we saw him. That 4th line is putting in work tonight.

I will only say one thing about Ferraro. He needs to speak to a sports psychologist. His biggest problem is his poise attribute is a 0. He panics whenever literally anything happens. He’s never calm when he has to make a play. The so called effort that he is lauded for is abject panic.
What I see is a player who has way too much confidence in his own abilities. He makes bold plays at the dumbest times.

Givani Smith lacks tools and soft skills, but he has good hockey sense...
