Dreadful. I was at the football game up here but i had Bruins on my phone since to be honest, the game i was at was essentially over by halftime.

As @smithformeragent said at the end of the GDT but i didn't get a chance to agree, they played a really solid first two periods. Couple hiccups, but nothing that indicated a bad game. And then came the third period. That legitimately be the worst period of hockey that team has played since the Dave Lewis era. They stopped skating, they started making stupid mistakes. They looked lost.

It's one thing to get outplayed in a period after playing well in two. But to go 25 minutes without getting a single shot (while you have a PP in there) is nothing short of pathetic.

I like Jim Montgomery. I think he's a great coach and a better person given the demons he's had to overcome and will probably continue to be a great coach. But it's obvious whatever he's doing here isn't working.

This team is not that different from last year, they should NOT be this bad. You have to fire the coach first and see if this team responds. Its not his fault, but they need to start the no one is safe fire across the bow starting with him because its the easiest to do that maybe could wake them up.

Had they done that, which they should have, they would look bad doing so in his first season behind the bench.

If ownership, neely, and especially Sweeney are anything, they are absurdly sensitive to criticism.

Sweeney built a team to be big and compete with Florida. Team is slow and low skilled and may not even make the playoffs. No scoring after care free Passta.

Krug was never replaced, Mac is not the guy and every good team has a quaterback on dee that is a threat to score.

Leadership players like Foligno are missed. Coach will be gone but that will not make them goal scorers. They need another scoring threat, to replace Jake and JVR.

Sooner or later, hopefully sooner, Mason Lorhei will quarterback the first power play unit.

He is not Raymond Bourque.

And he doesn't need to be. To these eyes anyway, Charlie is an excellent defenseman when he defends and off the rush.

Whoever is behind the bench going forward, they would do well to drop Charlie to the second PP unit.

I have no doubt he would be more comfortable there, and more effective as well.

This team possesses plenty of leadership and character.

They need a coach who understands how to harness said leadership & character.

It is painfully obvious that Jim Montgomery does not.

I don’t completely disagree with the move, but I would’ve liked to see him get more PP time first. And a 20 point pace is still better than Coyle, Frederic, and Geekie 15 point paces, but that’s what happens when youre waiver exempt I guess.

Too bad regarding Poitras ....looked great in camp but needs to get man's strength to excel at this level ...I pray he keeps his head up in the AHL ....many of those boys are hungry to hurt

They didn’t look out of shape in the Calgary or Seattle games from ice level

100% disagree here

Most of the players looked out of shape to start the regular season (physically and mentally) ..some due to injuries, some due to lack of conditioning and a bad training camp, and some of the new guys needed time to fit in

There have been glimpses of this team looking good against the Av's, Seattle and Calgary, but if all these players are in top game shape ...then it's gonna be a long season
