I'm just baffled as to how much hate Carter received from the Philly fanbase. Then again, they pretty much turn on any athlete there.

Well, he was traded, so he MUST suck, right?

</philly>

Can't wait till a year or two from now when Giroux is dealt and suddenly he goes from being Jesus to "barely a 3rd line center".

Ryan Gosling and Jeff Carter seperated at birth.

And I can understand a little bit why Carter wasnt always loved by Philly's fanbase. When he doesnt score goals for long stretches than you easily get annoyed by him. Not a great passer (never understood why the Jackets traded for him because Nash and him are pretty similar), doesnt throw hits, looks lazy sometimes (might be his body language). I also notice he has a tendacy to go for a line change at the wrong times.

He did indeed score not too many important goals for them. Luckily for us its the complete opposite.

I think it's that and his size, he's a big guy and so he takes long strides, though sometimes those strides look like he's coasting out there, but yeah there are specific reasons why they were annoyed with him, but he's been great here :D

A lot of Flyer fans don't like you if you aren't tough. There is still so much reference to "Flyers hockey" which means Broad Street Bullies and that kind of mentality by fans and management has hampered them as the game's grown. Carter still hasn't reached his ceiling as far as I'm concerned, he and Richards came into the league together and were always compared to one another, Richards hit, fought and hit his ceiling early in his career while Carter improved over time. He wasn't good defensively early but that improved, same with faceoffs. Now he's above average in both categories. I would like to see him take the body and finish his checks but those extra few seconds might also keep him from heading towards the other end of the ice and cost him some goals. I'm glad people appreciate him here cause he was crapped on by a lot of Flyer fans.

Currently projected into a 4-way tie for 8th through 11th (51 points). If they get a single point on Saturday, that's the way it'll remain -- if they win Saturday, that projects them into a tie for 7th.

If Kopi can start hitting some of those yawning nets, they might be able to think about more than just squeaking into the post-season maybe :)

Awesome to get the "w". I was worried in the second when we were dominating but didn't get anything on the score board out of it. I thought it may have allowed the shames to regroup and pot a lucky one.
Our forwards were awesome, and Doughty played unreal..laid some big checks. Our D is still too thin. Muzzin looks good in the offensiveend but needs some help in our end. Ellerby had some bad passes, but I'll blame that on nerves of playing infron of his hometown crowd.
Great win.

slump = laziness in Philly. If you aren't playing hockey 24/7 and you are having trouble scoring goals, you aren't trying hard enough. Plus, Richards and Carter liked to go out and have fun every once in awhile which is a big no-no in Philly unless you are on top of your game.

Also Carter missed a wide open net in game 6 of the 2010 SC which would've won the game. But while I was mad at the time, it was obvious Leighton had lost all the voodoo magic he had in goal. I don't think they could've won game 7 in Chicago.

Carter has matured a lot too. He really wants to prove to people that he's not lazy bum that everyone paints him as.

Oh and

He would've won if it wasn't for that last bad turn ;)

Iginla and Brodie were two of the official stars? Wtf Calgary media? No Scuderi or Bernier?

:shakehead

Even when biased, they can screw it up. Yeah, Brodie got a goal, but what about MacDonald? If it wasn't for him, that game could have been 7-1.

Kopi looked real good last night. MacDonald robbed him several times. Easily could have had a hatty last night if not for some great saves.

I went to the Wild/Flames game last week as well .Flames lost but managed to have the top two stars of the game. They are unbelievably biased here. Not sure if it is like that elsewhere or what. I remember when the 3 stars use to mean something. How well I will tkae the win over the three stars anyday of the week.

The back half of the 2nd period LA dominated!! was too bad they could not burry a couple of chances.

Jeff Carter is the Kings' best goal scorer in a very long time. Brown has finally picked his game up. He was throwing the body around the last few nights and been much more active offensively. Watching King, Stoll and Penner makes me cringe.

Exactly. Carter never looks like he's working hard out there, until you see him blow past a few defenders and realize how deceptive his speed is. I hope he keeps it up -- he can be streaky, but having Richards feeding him the puck is going to pay off.

Carter has to be taken in to context. He is streaky goal scorer. He isn't a superstar. He isn't a guy like Kopitar that is a 2 way elite center that is going to wow you with his play away from the puck.

The Blue Jackets wanted Carter to come in and carry the team and be a guy like Kopitar, B. Richards, Crosby, Malkin, Datsyuk. They were also asking a pure goal scorer to feed Rick Nash the puck. Of course they are going to be disappointed, that is a recipe for disaster.

Carter is on a hot streak right now and will cool off at some point and a portion of our fan base will be all over him again... good times

Honestly, no one's like Crosby when he's at the top of his game, which he usually is. Malkin also has unreal skill. I think it's ridiculous when people in Philly say Richards and Carter aren't like those two as a way to diminish how good they are (and in case it doesn't come through, I am a Flyer/recent Kings fan living near Philly). Last time I checked, you didn't have to be a surefire HOFer to be the best player on a Cup winner. Being a multiple all-star type player is plenty good.

Carter caught crap for exactly the reason Scarface said- he doesn't always look like he's working his hardest because of his size and skating motion.

Jebuzz.. Just finished watching the game..what a pace my godness, Now a sencere question .Was the Kings that great or was it Flames being bad? I was just blown away of the passing the speed, movement... no way this was the team I saw yesterday.
