Yeah I have been beating the "it's not over yet" bell but I'm no longer saying that. Season isn't over, but I'm no longer confident they will get it going enough to get themselves out of this hole. The only thing keeping us within reach is our division, but who knows if that will be the same if we can ever get this turned around. So you won't be hearing that from me anymore.

McRebound/McGloveSide sucks.

Why is it that every other team will take shots from anywhere in the zone and the Jackets try, try and try to set up a perfect shot that never works? Just shoot the puck! God knows that not shooting isn't working. Shoot blindly in the general direction of the net... you know, blind squirrel, yada, yada, yada. I believe this may be the most upset I have been with this team in all of the years that I have been watching.

Am I the only one that is thinking that perhaps the team and the prospects aren't nearly as deep as we had wanted to believe?

I suppose, but I don't really think depth itself is the whole problem - rather, the experience of that depth. The fact of the matter is they're only a couple of years into what is more or less a full rebuild. The guys in the NHL are capable of playing at a high level in Richards' system, but everyone below them is still learning the game, the system and are still developing into professionals. They're not ready to be in the NHL, but because of injury, here they are. You can mask one or two, but you can't have this many at this point in their development and not have them exposed.

I'm thinking the past moniker "hardest team to play against in the league" was true at the time yet perhaps a bit of a crutch to cover for the lack of overall talent... Last season the 3rd and 4th lines made the season happen, this season those lines are not much of a factor...

JD and Yarmo are probably more responsible right now than Richards... Yarmo is the guy I'm wondering about..

Richards is on the hot seat because this team needs a bigger wake up call, not because of anything related to his recent performance.

Dead on. It's unfortunate, but very typical in hockey - less so over the years, but in the past it seemed like you'd switch coaches just to change the mood of the room. I hope they can turn it around before he's sacrificed. I also hope he gets a bit of a pass for all of the injuries - and failings of the GM. I like JD, Jarmo and Richards - and I'm loathe to suggest something when I know they know more about the game than I do, but damned if it doesn't seem like these guys need some kind of help/shakeup.

A lot of people forget that Richards wasn't a Jarmo/JD hire either... let alone his extension was a no-brainer move at the time -- it wouldn't be a surprise in the slightest if he was off the job just for sake of getting their guy in.

And this is coming from a Richards supporter... the blame lies between the ears of the 22 guys we assemble each night to play.

Agree.... if they lose tonight something could happen but I doubt it.... The current CBJ organization is very conservative... they will hold on for a few more weeks even if they continue to lose before firing anyone...

That said, they could win this game and go on to winning several games... lets see how tonight rolls out..

When was the last time a CBJ player hit another guy and actually bothered him? (aside from the Johnson suspension)? I seriously can't remember. This is like watching checking in the preseason.

Very true and thank you for reminding me of this. Seeing the game through a haze of anger and disappointment is, I suppose, causing me to forget how many of the players on the ice right now should be in Springfield.

And not directed at your comment but rather in general, in no way is Richards responsible for what is taking place with this team. Any blame I have (injuries notwithstanding) I place firmly with Jarmo and JD.

"We made you go into a season with Curtis McElhinney as the backup and signed a bunch of ECHL guys to replace Derek MacKenzie. Go clean out your office."

Interesting icing there...

As usual, Chimera will not shut up about it. I get the feeling that if the in-flight meal were chicken instead of steak, he would just scream about it the entire way until someone finally gets the urge to shove him out of the cargo hold.

Was it Chimera that didn't get along with Hitch? I can't remember the who or the why.
