They’ve been doing that for years, refs get a review after each game, with video.
I know they have a system. But NOT the first part; it seems that they don't do it consistently, or change it periodically, or have "quotas" for the penalties.

Marchand lol
I am still waiting for Marchand to be "addressed" in a significant way for his past.

Hell of a finish.

Can't ask for much more from a road game. Perfect all around save for that 1 minute span which led to the 2 goals against. Big hump to get over beating a good team in their barn.
How did our 3 players screw up by allowing Boston to get a 2 on 1 in OT?

Brady was far behind the play; Norris was not as far back. We lucked out there!

I think he's scoreless 5v5, so offensively. He had some struggles defensively too imo, but most would peg that on playing with Hamonic those games.
Ok, I did not notice that. He is so good on the point of the powerplay.

It must be Hamonic. I guess if you put our greatest defender with one of the worst it doesn't allow the strengths of Sanderson to shine.

I remember when Karlsson would be held back when he wasn't playing with methot.

This isn't Whose Line Is It Anyway?, the points actually matter.
Yes, the points matter; however, the play of the team during the game is a major factor in determining wins and losses.

The team played a solid game against Boston outshooting them about 2:1. That was a dominant display; however, our "finishing" was poor given the quantity of shots.

If we can dominate most games outshooting our opponents that would be a great contribution to winning and getting into the playoffs.

The team seems to be playing better this season overall with only a few clunkers; the recent losses to Buffalo and the Islanders should have been wins but the team played poorly and as a result got the well-deserved 2 Ls.

Family related issues for Perron?
His wife is having a baby and the baby has serious health issues.

Who cares? This is the 3rd straight year of "we should have a better record right now"...

"solid" game? So what? There's a lot of "solid" games this year that haven't resulted in at least a point, it's completely meaningless. I'm not ready to assess this team until closer to the 24-25 games mark but we are a .500 team regardless of what the underlying stats say. And the 2 previous years we've been a non-playoff team despite what the underlying stats or vibes say. I'm not rooting for vibes anymore, I'm rooting for a team that gets real results, not just moral victories.

Hope HNIC has another AustOOOOn update since the last intermission.
HNIC (SN) is saving a lot of $$$ by having one set of intermission programming that caters to you-know-what!

Wins and Losses are the "results"; they are not the "inputs" required to get the results we want.

That’s what happens when Ottawa had a 2 on 1, or 3 on 1, in one direction, and Swayman makes a save, then the same usually happens the other way, then UllMark makes a save, then odd man rush again the other way.
That’s not unusual in 3 on 3.

We’re missing a top 6 winger on the roster imo so I think it’s a problem no matter the combinations tbh. I actually liked Greig better tonight than I have when he was on the Stützle/Brady line. Realistically I don’t think Greig should be in the top 6 just yet, we just don’t have many options.
I think I agree with you.

Is this our top 6?

Tkachuk - Stutzke - Giroux
Perron - Norris - Batherson

If so, we are missing "Perron" due to personal reasons.

Our bottom 6/7 is:

Greig - Pinto - Amadio
Cousins - Gaudette/Gregor - MacEwen

Ostapchuk needs more time in the AHL; he seems to be progressing well and could be here at the start of next season.

This is correct but it’s also incorrect. People’s assessment of how the Sens played is almost always heavily skewed by whether they won or lost.

But, at the end of the day it is all about W - L record, and the Sens have for 3 or 4 years now had a record that is worse than it should have been based on the talent on the roster.
I think past years' performance reflected the roster we had, plus the coaching, plus the GM, plus the ownership.

The "how" is Brady's slow back checking and Norris not coming back fast enough. They went full offence trying to score and failed to come back fast enough when they did not score. Typical for Brady; not typical for Norris. This needs some coaching corrections.

Letting go of my expectations for the team and simply enjoying Sens hockey has been the best decision I've made. We're fortunate to still have a team in Ottawa; I'm certain hockey enthusiasts in Quebec City would love to have their own team. And tonight was a very solid win on the road.
Solid to an extent; "finishing" (i.e., scoring percentage of shots taken) needs to improve. Shooting Practice required.

yea but the good thing is that a record of barely above .500 could get us in.

like this team might not even have to have a good year to get in. i would take that lol.
I figure the team needs to get 10 points for every 8 games played (e.g., 5 Wins and 3 Losses). That would definitely put the team in the playoffs (i.e., 100 points).

Having .500 +1 or 2 points is not going to do it.

The highlights are so ridiculous sometimes (plus wildly inconsistent). Like that's the third period but they showed every single shot on goal in the first
The editor had to do it fast! Took the first goals and met his time requirement. Probably from Toronto.

I watched it really late and had ptsd visions of boston scoring in the third and us losing.

It's what we wanted, really. A goaltender who made the saves when necessary and a team that played as a unit for the most part.

Need to get batherson and giroux clicking again. Cant have one line humming while the other is cold, need to have them all firing.

HUGE win.

Norris and Brady made no effort to rush back, leaving Jake alone on 1 vs 2, they just looked at each other to say "you, take the man", it was comical bad.
Thanks Ullmark for the win.
