Is there a "whiffed zone clears" stat, because I feel like for all the generally solid play Hamonic gave us last night he must lead the team there by a decent margin.

A few thoughts:
I blame Brady for the first Boston goal. He took a lazy swing at the puck, I guess trying to chip it up, but it was sloppy and ends up right on Boston's stick and then in the back of the net. He has to get the puck out. That said, he more than made up for it by finding Norris in front and then scoring in OT.

I thought Amadio was really good. Not just his goal but he made smart plays in all three zones. Might've been his best game of the season.

Jensen was a monster. I think he was our best D. Love his scrappiness and high tempo game.

One thing I noticed last night: guys like Brando Carlo and Zadorov are just as effective, if not more, than Chabot and they make half of what he's making.

Ullmark was good. I think it was a point of pride for him coming back into Boston. Going head to head with Swayman and coming out on top is an accomplishment.

Completely shutting down Boston in the 3rd period is a great sign for this team. Shows they can do it when they apply themselves. Hopefully it's the jolt of electricity they need to get ball rolling this season.

Zadorov was noticeably bad and has a career high of 22 points. Carlo career high 19 points. Not sure what your measurement of effective is. As someone who craps on our stars when they play bad, this is a head scratcher. Pretty sure the bruins fans were agreeing Z was a terrible signing and an over reaction to being man handled by Florida. Carlo is decent but more comparable to Zub than Chabot.

Odd time to be critical of Chabot when he's been probably our best D for the last while thanks to Sanderson's struggles 5v5

Lots of positives from last night's game; mostly confidence boosters for people who needed it most:

- Ullmark winning against his old team, and making that big save at the end must be a big confidence booster!

- Norris scoring on a one-timer (wasn't his best but who cares) should hopefully give him the confidence to try it more;

- Amadio finally scoring also gets the monkey off his back.

Sanderson is struggling 5v5?

Do you mean offensively or defensively?
I mean, it's always relative to expectations. but,

in his last 9 games:
- 0 5v5 pts (holds true for the whole season)
- 10 on ice goals against (leads all D),
- 3.76 GA/60 (2nd among D)
- 3.29 xGA/60, 2nd among D

Now, he's getting tougher deployment, so there is some context there, but he got that same tough deployment last year and was a leader in xGA/60 and GA/60 (in the good way)

So to answer your question, both.

Huge game basically a must win and Ullmark and Brady showed up. Bodes well.

I don't think we have to worry about Boston stealing a playoff spot from us.

So who does that leave as the strongest competition.

Islanders?
Sabres?
Detroit?

This might actually be the year.
I think the Senators need to learn how to win consistently. There are too many players on this team who do not know that they must play EVERY GAME as though it is a PLAYOFF game in order for them to get into the PLAYOFFS because this roster does not have the talent to take games off and still get into the playoffs. Too many of the current roster have not learned that and the coaching staff is too accepting of poor performance; the coaching staff needs to be more demanding and not provide EXCUSES for poor team performance and losses.

Amadio is too slow and lacking in offensive skills. I prefer Joseph and his speed.

It shows in his Plus/Minus at -8.

His Plus/Minus reflects that at -8 .

Man Amadio is sexy even if he still didn't score this season guy has a brain.
Has some Hockey IQ but not high offensive skills.

Stützle has been getting bullied tonight, wonder if not having Tkachuk on the ice with him is a factor.
You hit the other team's best players to slow them down. The Senators need to become that type of team: a WINNING hockey team that plays "WINNING hockey!

What an asshole... why the EFF he ever gets to call a single Sens broadcast is completely beyond me. Obviously he really dislikes the team. Of course it is far worse to the point of nausea when the Sens play Montreal or Toronto listening to him suck up to those national audiences, but the reality is Ottawa could be playing Utah and he'd be the same. He and Dean Brown confound me!
Add Good Wilson to the "Dump Them List".

Should we give all players an E-Shock zap after each GA?

Bruins fans have been trashing Zadorov, can see why.

I really wanna see Gaudette play with our best passer. But I think Green is dead set on having him as a centre.
If the wins don't start coming, Green may be forced to make some changes; otherwise Green might become part of the changes to be made!

true, they need to do whatever they can to eliminate game management
They need to review the details of what is a penalty and then require the refs to call all such penalties. Then conduct reviews of the refs and each one's calling/missing of such penalties. Set up a system.

They’ve been doing that for years, refs get a review after each game, with video.

The other major sports are no better. Humans missing calls or getting in their own way. Baseball in particular needs to move to automated balls and strikes calls, they're just embarrassing the umps at this point.
