The Oil have completely lost thier scoring touch. It's too early in the season to write them off but good riddance. Is the cup finals all they wanted? They don't want to put the grind in to earn a playoff spot..

Do they need to fire another coach? W t f is wrong with these guys? ..Aside from goaltending and lack of scoring.

The defense actually looks decent. They're 4th in shot suppression. They're 4th in high danger chances allowed. They're almost dead last in goaltending and offense along with special teams.

In purgatory
Not a great showing thus far, once again coming out a bit flat. That lack of speed attacking the neutral and backing off D is pretty readily apparent, and this team doesn't really generate well off cycle play.

There no give a shit on offence, only 3 players get to the net, and they are content to pass it around the perimeter and look for the perfect shot, but teams know this and they stay tight and square so the point shots go right into the defences skates. extremely predictable play from a team loaded with skill that refuses to use that skill.

I often wondered if the Giordano takeout was the one that changed things and created something long term.

Pretty sure his rocket season came after that. That was my favourite McDavid season. He was so shot adverse last year. Not sure what he is this year.

This team has nobody that can hit and play with emotion on a regular basis. Most of these guys are on back side of their careers and are just not good enough anymore. RNH, Henrique, Skinner, Nurse, Janmark, Brown, Ryan, the list goes on and on. If McDrai don't take over every game we are toast. Horrible way to build a team, we're right back to the Tippet era Oilers but much older.

You don’t even need to be good to beat us.

Just box out in the d zone, wait for us to turn it over, break out uncontested. Doesn’t even require effort. Pilons could defend this.

This feels like a season where the team looks good on paper, for the most part (D needs upgrading and goalie can be questionable), but nothing clicks at all.

Like when teams have made a finals and then just missed out the following year
