Someone brought it up in a previous thread, but I am starting to believe Wennberg will be nothing more than a bottom 6 defensive player. Yes, I know its his second season and he's only like 21, but other than the Minnesota game he hasn't really displayed any offensive flare this year. Torts seems to prefer Karlsson to him. Wennberg playing 4th line minutes with Campbell and Boll won't develop his game at all.

You could've said the same about Johansen after his first two seasons, eh? Not saying Wennberg will be the next Johansen but he's had an injury-riddled start to this season on an under-achieving team. He clearly had struggles during his rookie season but we saw him come into his own after the ASG.

He's going to be playing bottom-6 as long as Joey and Dubi are here, though. So I do think that might stifle his offensive growth but I don't think he's going to end up like Marcus Kruger (who is a good player in his own right, but disappointing for a 14th OA selection).

I know Prout is the board whipping boy with good reason, but whether we like it or not, he's on our team and hopefully Torts has worked with him to get back to level he was last year when we had glowing comments about his play.

To be fair, this is a pretty dumb move.

No actually it's not. How many practices has he had with the team since Torts has been a coach? How well does he know the new systems? How hard is he working in practice? How hard is he working off the ice? How's his attitude on/off the ice?

Until you know the answer to majority of those questions you have no idea if it's a smart or dumb move. That's not even to mention how well he's performing in comparison to everyone else.

Nobody here has the slightest clue what's going on between the players and coaches. Make the kid earn his time. Keep him up for a few games and make him earn his spot, don't just give him a spot as soon as he's called up.

I don't mind the move. But CG better go back in tomorrow
I agree. This move is the puzzling one.

This is where I don't agree. Torts has shown more trust in Wennberg imo. This is the first game Karlsson is higher in the lineup and it's likely because Wennberg has been injured and will get more time when Wenny is back up to speed.

I'm sorry but calling him up and sitting him in the box is dumb. It is the worst thing they can do to him. It does nothing for the team or his development. If you call him up, he should play.

The kid is the first guy called up from the farm, I can infer that most of your concerns have been addressed by the guy who calls him up. I'd hope so.

Well you know, playing him on the second night of a back-to-back against a statistically easier opponent makes a good bit of sense.

Rychel and Golo should both be in there.

At least it's better than TR, where you're pretty much guaranteed to be stuck with the same group, regardless of play. With Torts you at least have a chance of seeing the better players in there.

I really don't understand these moves. Isn't this the second time Rychel has been called up and the scratched?
Not sure but didn't this happen? He was called up and once he arrived, they sent him down. But that same night, someone got hurt so they called him back up again.

Honestly, I thought Josh Anderson would have gotten the call up this time. Having Rychel in the press box/3rd or 4th line is pointless. He needs to be in hte top 6 imo. Anderson is more suited for the 3rd/4th line. But then again, he is coming back from injury and they might want him to play games and get minutes.

As for tonight, 3-1 game. Won't guess who wins. Hopefully by having Prout, Lucic does something stupid and we score on the PP.

"Top 6" is kind of meaningless for us, and a lot of other clubs these days. The third line sometimes gets the same minutes as the second line.
