Xhejak is one of those players that is just on such a crazy development curve it looks like he is surprising himself with his own skills. His shot is so heavy. Kid was born to be a hockey player, just a naturally gifted late bloomer.

Yeah, people being upset that the team is better than we expected make no sense.

Bedard would obviously be amazing, but even finishing in last doesn't guarantee anything. We got lucky to win the lotto last season, and we have a good young core who are improving. I'm sure we'll end up with another great piece or two in the first round this year. You can't just tank and hope for the best. It very rarely works in the NHL. It isn't the NBA where one star player can turn a bad team into a championship contender.

Bedard is amazing, true. The thing is, so are Michkov, Carlsson and Fantili. Thats a guaranteed franchise player if you finish bottom 3.

It's dirtbag move to deal him unless he gets tired of losing and wants out. dude has his cup and is 8 hours by car from his NB home

We honestly don't have better in the pipe and he's actually really good when played reasonably. Which gives a good number of games to Monty which is developping nicely. Montembault is still really young for a goalie. He might well be elite 2nd in 2 years.

Seems to me the guys are respected, not 'buy a dog' like and that respect is what makes player want to play with pride.

There still are those leftovers past date but the cleanup is a few months away and the next start will make it clear what team we'll have the next 6-10 years. And i'm pumped for my kids... they'll see a cup rised in the next 10 years.

While I have to admit I'm happy the young player are doing so well, I do wonder what the plan is for a goaltender and an elite defenseman if the team does end up competing for the playoffs this year. You still have to fill the rest of the roster. Maybe the team can keep Monahan cheap and add Dubois, but a speculative plan isn't a solid plan.

Its up in the air with HuGo. Theres no precedent for the first part and Gorton got very, very lucky with Boston and NYR.
