I think Laviolette handled this pretty well. Gave KK 11 games of unimeped play with Kreider and Zibanejad. I think that is pretty fair especially compared to previous coaches who would have pulled the plug probably 4-5 periods in.
I think maybe KK plays better with guys at his skill level or slightly below. He was lost with Panarin and even if analytics say otherwise he wasn't close to producing with Kreider and Zibanejad.

Yeah, its becoming the same story. Work ethic is there. Doesnt give up anything defensively. Looks the part at times. But no points, 3rd assists if anything. Production just isnt there.

He doesnt need to reinvent the wheel, but I do think he needs to get more aggressive with puck and manufacture more scoring chances for himself. Get selfish. Take some risks. Acutally felt his game regressed big time the last 2 or 3.

I think it was a good idea moving him off that line, but it kinda stinks - yet again that he is the one "taking the fall" - although this time, its much more on him imo... He had plenty of games on the "1st" line, regardless of Mika's suckage 5 on 5

Cuylle could help but it would be nice if he was a center. Kakko needs someone to bounce off of and play catch. Mika isnt that guy

It's wonderful that they are a net zero and don't give up much defensively but eventually to be a very very good team your first line has to start to produce.

I don't think this is a sudden change in absurd injury luck. I think it's more likely that this is a change in diagnosing and managing.

the team had hardly any injuries the last 2 years.

I know a lot of us suspected a lot of players were playing thru injury last season.

Maybe thats why Ramsey was let go?
