when @montreal is posting this...I start to get scared. lol.
but what the f*** do I know?
It's a disaster if those three picks end up being only average NHLers.
right now It feels like Newhook won't be anything more than a North/South 20 goal scorer.
I'm less concerned about the D right now because they're young and have a lot potential. and there's a higher volume of quality young D in the system.

He's going to need to trade Monahan / Dvorak / Savard, but I wouldn't move them for picks; I'd prefer young players

well they did need size and size they got in Slaf and Reinbacher, Bobrov said they wanted NHLers, they will get them, just a question of how good will they be. Development usually takes so long, that's why I have been saying we are likely looking at a long rebuild, if you look to build around your D prospects, ala Nashville, it takes even longer for young D to adjust to the NHL.

Now making trades like Dach, Newhook can speed things up if you get the right players.

Management can get so creative here though, as they have a ton of draft picks, prospects, young players to go with some vets of interest. Hughes strikes me as very smart, we'll see how he plays this.

And when I say that...I'm negative....Reality is this....Martin Lapointe has proven nothing. Bobrov doesn't have a good track record. And a lot of the amateur scouts from the Timmins era are still there. Including the Euro scout in charge in Rockstrom.

I have no idea why people say that we are in good hands. Aside from Gorton and Hughes who do seem to be an improvement over Bergevin. Yet, they don't pick guys. At best, as Gorton as proven through the meetings, they give some pointers as to what to check. But that's it. The scouts are the ones in charge.

I like Tommy Lehmann and Vincent Riendeau plus it sounds like Adan Nicholas was a good hire though I guess we'll see.

That's the scary part. The burden of proof is on scouting staff to demonstrate competency. I'm up for being patient but it would absolutely suck to wait 5 years to find out this bunch of jackasses ruined the majority of our top picks from horrendous seasons on a bunch of average players. But we'll see I guess.
