Kuzmenko just thinking it's ok to attempt to ram Nurse from the numbers and fails. Flames getting away with a bit this period

Refs just waiting to call us on a penalty to get this to a 1 goal game

Oilers ranked 31st in PP opportunities. 1 more than 32nd. 30 opportunities. A team like Boston ranked #1 with 54

The Oilers will never ever get any respect. Doesn't even matter if they have the #1 player and made the finals and are a veteran team now

Even with a garbage PP %, we still rank dead last in opportunities basically

Can't stand Backlund. He's a turd. But can't help but think back to the 2008 draft when the Oilers moved back into the first round. I thought for sure they were taking Backlund instead blew their pick on Riley Nash. I had seen Backlund dominate at the Macs Midget Tournament and knew he would be a real solid NHL centre man. Was super pissed the Oil didn't take him. 1000 games later.

Disagree on Henrique. He's not lighting the lamp, but he's a difference maker on defense, and bailed out our blue line on multiple occasions. Having a guy like that has allowed the blue line to kind of round into form.
I agree with you there but just remember that line in the playoffs. They brought the defense as well as offense

That top line is a beast. Podkolzin is getting very good and we are starting to see the skills Vancouver saw in him during his draft.

Great goal by Skinner great effort.

It is SO easy to tell that Noah Philp is not a 4th line centre. He is easily a 3rd line centre

Which is funny because we’re near the top of the league in shot attempts and give up among the least amount of shot attempts per game.

Logic would dictate we have the puck more often so kind of makes you think why we don’t draw more penalties? Not that our PP would do anything but kind of odd.

I expect so little of NHL refs that there’s nothing surprising.

Yeah what the heck. Years ago they used to always say, sure the Oilers don’t get a lot of calls but it’s because refs just love veterans, young teams don’t get that benefit. Now we’ve got plenty of veterans, the whole core is veteran now. How old do they have to be?

It’s just funny, you can tell some years very early who’s the darling of the league. Like Colorado and Vegas were treated with kids gloves the entire season they won. I saw a lot of NHL fans gripe about it too until we faced each team in the playoffs lol

Edit: Tampa bay too, Florida got away with lots of dirty shit against eastern teams in the playoffs too..

Podkolzin is becoming a massive steal for a 4th rounder. That line is developing some real chemistry.

His playing style will always be appreciated by Oiler fans who love that gritty nastiness to a players game.
At the end of his contract next year he will be RFA too! Massive steal

There is so much more player there than the guy Vancouver could barely bother with. If he could find some finish, he's be very dangerous

It's weird to me. He's a no bullshit full hustle guy, and they just quit on him.

He's like if puljujarvi was a straight line player that hit, fought, didn't pout, and didn't make 3 million dollars. Like, I can't imagine us trading him?

I almost wonder if there was some interpersonal drama with him and someone like Hughes or something.

I don’t mean just tonight but analytically he has been one of our worst players for forwards. That said. The only worse players are Nuge and his linemates so he may just be overwhelmed. He doesn’t look like he did last year. It’s early so I’m not super worried. Just more an observation.
