No one attacking the neutral zone with speed.
Opposition defense stands up...
Forces bad pass before the redline....
Counter attack...
Kings out of position...
Shot from slot...
Kings stuck in own zone...
Repeat...

Won't see the stretch pass again until Jan/Feb at the earliest.

Edit: Not saying run and gun, but with the option it forces teams to back off and makes leaving the zone easier.

What a piece of **** game. They deserved to lose the way they played at times. Giving up 2 goals late in the 1st and 2nd period to this team is embarrassing.

Both of these sum up my feelings pretty well.

If the Kings don't skate, they can look bad. They got away with it earlier at home, when one line was scoring over 2 goals a game and Quick had a stupid save %. That combination isn't working lately, and the result is what it is.

Another game lost in the 1st period. Dominate the 1st half of the period, turn their brains off thinking this will be an easy game and next thing you know, out shot 10-1 and down by a goal to end the period.

Does it seem like they're not crashing the net hardly at all on shots or is it just me?

They're not skating hard anywhere on the ice.

I keep going back to it, but the Kings have played almost a full season's worth of playoff intensity games over the last 3 years. That's a lot more games than most other teams. Shorter summers, less rest, the whole deal. Plus they're obviously defending champs, so if there is a Cup hangover, it'll get to this team. They've won at home, and on the road in the playoffs.

The only thing you don't want is that the Kings glide themselves out of a playoff position as the games tick by. Then they'll have to try and make a mad rush for a playoff spot, and the Kings as a collective team don't need to spend the energy then.

It's nothing we haven't seen with this team before. They've turned it around before. Slumps are going to happen, but they've also not really played well at any point this season so far. Just have to see how it plays out.

I was going to say we've spawned a main board thread for a good player on the opposing team each game of this road trip; this time, it was for the whole Canes team

Post game comments from LA Kings insider from Sutter:

On whether the Kings were “chasing the gameâ€:
No, I think we did a lot of good things. Goal at the end of the first, late first, and early second. Took a penalty on a faceoff early in the second. Don’t have to take that penalty, and it’s the difference in the game. We have trouble scoring, so just about every mistake you make is magnified. We weren’t “chasing the game.
†I thought we played a really good game.

Okay, I guess DS's 'in studio version' of the game is an upgraded view over the 'televised ' one.

Players know they sucked. DS is just not willing to pile on right now. He knows they watch the post game and needs them to feel a little better about their effort. After one or two loses you tear them down. After four they need to know the coach has their backs.

It's just part of the script here guys, no need to improvise! Just follow the script.

We lost to Buffalo early last season, in Buffalo (yeah, we got a point out of it, but still).

The script is being followed in full force.

The Cup is ours!
