Take away Larkins PP goals and Wings are right on track with those Leafs.

Wild how much they depend on Larkin, his play/production. People were down with trading him 1 period into the Sabers game lol. I just smh. Fans rather trade away good players vs trade for a good player. The guy (Larkin) just can't make everyone happy. ` Tis life.

I just remember the DeBrincat trade and people actually being upset Kubalik was part of the deal... one year later and Kualiks out of the league and Larkin is being suggested for trades. I swear to god people want an endless rebuild forever.

I understand NFL is king but man Larkin scoring two goals and the crowd chanting Jared Goff. Just ugh.

I find it annoying and just disrespectful now.
Seriously! It makes zero sense to me to cheer for another player on another team from another sport. It would be one thing if it was during his perfect game or the Super Bowl or something but this was a random Saturday night. Where’s the cheer for Talbot or Larkin who both showed up strong for this game? Obviously the Wings aren’t in Detroit sports hype mode right now but it’s so cringe to cheer for a different sport during the game.

I live in Chicago and try and get to a Hawks game a year, especially when Detroit is in town, and that chant is the most embarrassing thing.
It's perfectly fine when the Wings are in town. Same as this would be a perfectly fine chant if Goff is dropping the ceremonial puck or blowing the horn at the start of a game. Every other situation, not so fine.

Jared Goffs done more in less time than anyone in any franchise here in the last 15 years.

Maybe it's getting time to trade him too before they make the playoffs again.

Umm, tv ratings show that the NFL has 10-20 times the audience of the NHL. A more popular sport has a local team with a long history of losing but a current window of championship contention.

And if you think there were never any Hockeytown signs or Wing Nut hats at Tigers or Lions games in the late 90s, you're mistaken.

It's just being excited for what's currently hot in local sports. It's neither illogical nor cringeworthy, so don't try to legislate how to be a sports fan.

Hey man, my opinion on what I think is cringe or embarrassing doesn’t have any implications on what you do or how you cheer. You do you.

I carry the same weight for Lions and Pistons while the Wings were kicking ass too. Never said it didn’t happen. So I appreciate the clarification I guess?

No one is legislating anything. They're expressing their opinion that they think it's stupid.

There may have been a few oddballs wearing a Wing Nut hat to a Lions game, but that's not the same as an arena chanting "Steve Yzerman" at a football or baseball game, which is equivalent to the Jared Goff chant.

It was fun the first few times when the Lions were in the postseason, but it'd be nice if they let it go.

Wings aren't playing to their full potential yet and are still winning. I look at that as a positive sign, and I like their playoff chances as soon as they put it all together.

Aside from Panthers, no other team in the Atlantic is running away with it. Then look at the bottom 5 teams in the Atlantic, none look impressive.

You have to think once DRWs find their groove they're going to start pulling away from the pack. My question is whether Laldone is good enough to get them there. I think the only thing that will hold the team back is the coach.

AS for last nights game, I was happy with Gus, AlJo bottom pairing -finally. Mo and Ed look like they could become the most dominate pairing in the world. Middle pairing, meh.

Berggren could break out any time now. Copp is finally playing where is he capable. Tarasenko needs more time to gel... but he will get there, he's a pro.

-- I would prefer Kasper in the AHL so he can dominate offensively down there. He's just not a threat offensively in the NHL yet.

Wings finally have steady goaltending, If Wings had that last season, they make the playoffs.

If the clarification is that some fans think it's annoying and that's the start and end of it, then that's fine. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion. The original post included a picture captioned, "please stop", which is in the gray area between not liking something (again, perfectly legit) and trying to put an end to things they disagree with, which is another matter.

Obviously those who post here will inherently have a high affinity for hockey. I'm just pointing out what the metrics support: that among the much wider base of sports fans - many of whom attend games of multiple local teams - the 2024 Lions are a much bigger story than the 2024 Red Wings. So while others are free to feel differently, as long as fans attending Wings games don't do anything that's specifically DISrespectful to the Red Wings, I don't see the harm in including chants that support any or all of the local teams.
