Del Zotto belongs in over Holzer, but he's not a kid.

Not sure why all of a sudden they've decided Holzer is an every day guy.
Eakins has coached him before it might be a size issue and he has a comfort level with him.

I could care less about Holzer over/or MDZ, neither of them are going to significantly influence the offense and both have been part of a very solid defensive team game. Manson and Guhle are my concerns on defense given their respected responsibilities when they’re in the lineup. For the most part, the team isn’t losing because of the play of the defenseman. It’s the forwards that need a kick in the ass.

I only watched the 3rd, but was our best and most consistent line of Rakell-Rico-Silf not together the entire game? I read a lot of comments about Rakell appearing off, but he looked ok to me in the 3rd.

Holzer's main advantage over Del Zotto is the fact that he's a righty. Many coaches prefer having three lefties and three righties. It makes it easier protecting the puck, to clear your own zone, and to maintain posession in the offensive end.

Which they combine with exponential overpassing. I don't know how many times we're going to have players from below the faceoff circle try to make a diagonal pass for a far-post tap-in instead of shooting for rebounds.
There's really nothing more to add I don't think. I appreciate that Eakins encourages creativity in the offensive zone but a team with this little talent needs to score some greasy goals. Our best chances in the last few games have been with guys like Ritchie/Comtois/Rico/the 4th line in front of the net.

Jones is one of the most egregious offenders IMO. He has the puck on his stick a lot, he's a big kid, and instead of driving the net and forcing guys to try and stop him he goes for cute dekes and spins and it doesn't work for him. I'm starting to think it's no surprise that he's never been a big producer anywhere, he doesn't seem to realize what he's not good at.

are you talking about Jones or Terry? because that's literally all Terry does

I missed this game, and other than the Nashville game I see a much different team than last year. Gibson does not have to bail them out as he used to, and I see them attacking more, but they just cannot finish. If this team can score 3 goals most nights (Which is not asking too much), they should be winning those or at least getting a point with Gibson in net.

I really still think this team can squeeze into a playoff spot, but BM needs to pull the trigger on some help now, Especially with Mason down, and potentially Kase. Maybe go after one of Buffalo’s D. I feel they can’t just wait for all the kids to develop, need some outside help also, as long as it doesn’t hurt their future too much.

Terry over handles but he also gets himself into scoring position pretty often. I wouldn't expect him to drive the net, he'd die. So Terry is doing what he needs to do, he just isn't good enough yet. Jones on the other hand is totally on the wrong path. He needs to be Tomas Holmstrom, not Pavel Datsyuk.

We are absolutely not in panic territory yet. This being a rebuilding year I think the threshold for a panic move is sky high.

He's got that Sekac energy about him, that's for sure.

This team is about what I expected. They have a lot of young players who need to not only develop, but learn their roles. That part is on Eakins.

Amazingly, they have been competitive in most of the games this year. I thought they really dominated the last 5 minutes and got a lot of shots off and held the puck in their zone. Unlike other years where they would pull Gibson and hardly get into the zone and also get no shots off.

I literally hate to see the Ducks lose, but this team is not a playoff team. I hope they keep playing hard and are fun to watch while winning some.

We have lost 3 in a row and I can`t wait to watch the next game. Big difference from last year
Yep... even the Nashville game... I liked what i saw from the team.

We competitive vs everyone, the effort is there... obviously the skill is a bit young and inexperienced but overall its been fun to watch.

just need to find ways to score more ... also we have got like 0 puck luck this year.

I saw Getz had 7 SOG. Were they pretty good quality? Were any on the PP? That’s a good sign that he is shooting.

As others have mentioned, the games are competitive to watch. It's terrible to be in a 3-game skid, but aside from the 6-1 blowout, the games have been competitive. It's a bit of bad puck luck on our part as we are producing several High Danger chances For (HDF) to increase the potential of scoring goals. Mr. Five-hole missed a penalty shot. Overall, the Ducks have been steady with their game. If Gibby doesn't let in those two odd shots, then Gibby would have had his first Shut Out.

There's a vast difference between how Carlyle ended here and how Eakins has started. I hate to reiterate what Hazy informs us on the tele, but it's important to note that Eakins did stress the scoring will be by committee. So even our head coach knows we don't have that go-to scorer just yet.

The ES play doesn't concern me, but the losing streak does. It could be bad puck luck. If our play continues or continues to improve, then the shots will eventually go in at ES. For the PP, well, that's a totally different matter. We got lucky today and I don't mind as it's a greasy goal scored. Ritchie and Comtois were in front of the net. Steel found Ritchie on the opposite side and Ritchie's shot got partially deflected across the crease to a waiting Comtois with an open net. We need more of those types of goals scored on the PP.

The team is fine. With the exception of Nashville, every loss has been very competitive and a few puck luck and/or amazing saves that were made against the Ducks would've helped them get a few more points/wins. Ducks young players need to learn how to be more complete/consistent. They're on schedule in terms of growth.
