I thought the signings of Lindholm and Zadarov were exactly what we needed. Obviously, it’s not working out . It’s a collective issue . No one is playing well . Something going on in the dressing room ?
Likewise. There were naysayers about both players, at least at the price points they got, but I'm still surprised at how ineffectual they have been even if I was being overly optimistic about them.

But you look at what's going in Vancouver and Edmonton and Nashville and Colorado, and a few others. The Bruins are not alone in looking strangely worse than was expected, by a lot, and with considerable regression from last year. That's no consolation but an early season malaise is not unique to Boston.

Not sure what exactly they can do about it except hope that several players find their game. If they just put together a subpar lineup (which I'm inclined to believe is a big part of the problem), it's hard to envision how it can be reworked significantly at this point. If it's a matter of having the wrong coach (which I'm also inclined to believe but it's not just the coach IMO), they can make that change and see what happens. But when you add it all up, there could be way too much to fix in season. Shakeup trades that matter are hard to make once the games start due to that damn cap.

We need somebody close to the team to check in about how the players feel about this coach - are they onboard with him? Their best bet is to hope that about half a dozen players who are not *this bad* get it going. A coach change may be necessary for that to happen. Thing is, even if they turn things around is anybody believing that this version of the team is going anywhere in the playoffs?

WDYT?

Makes no sense at all ...what's Coyle got this season so far ...1 point??
He was the only Bruin making any plays and wasn't giving the puck away, so Monty increased his TOI! That's what every coach would do. What he should have done was put the 3rd and 4th line back together and sit 1 and 2 for the 2nd and 3rd period!

Well when your goalies allow 8 goals and they're still your best player......you have a serious problem.

I don't think changing coaches will make a significant difference. To me this is a personnel problem. Sweeney didn't do much to replace the production that left via FA. He expected guys who had career years to make that their new norm.....and they haven't. He wanted to get bigger and tougher to play against so he grabbed other teams failed big man projects with hopes that they'd magically figure it out in Boston.....they haven't.

We're 11 games into the season and the "4th line" is still 3 of your top 5 point producers. Again this is a personnel problem.
Absolutely and that is why they should fire Neely and Sweeney who have lived off Chia's work with very few exceptions.

Imo, i wouldnt really put any blame on the foot soliders. Right now, the leadership and best players arent leading by example on the ice and they're the ones that should be the difference makers. Pasta, Coyle, Swayman, McAvoy, Carlo..these are the guys that are letting the team down the most with their unusually sloppy play.

Montgomery echoed MacAvoy’s comments about how great regular seasons haven’t translated into playoff success. I don’t know. I think it’s okay for fans to think that way but isn’t it a little dangerous for the coach to not be taking the regular season seriously. Some injuries , bad breaks and this snowballs and then they don’t make the playoffs?

Fire Montgomery tonight.
Fire the PP coach tonight.

Waive the soft, content losers such as Frederic.

Sign Johnson and pray the 5'8 veteran can save them.

Hire a coach that will have the team playing with physicality and pride.

This product is a disgrace and not worth any fans time.
As sad as it is, I think it's going to come to that point.... Maybe soon. The season could be lost rather quickly if things start spiraling.

Didn't even look like they belonged in the same league as Carolina tonight. Seriously did not look like they should be competing against one another in an honest fashion. They looked like an expansion team playing a championship team on banner raising night.

I agree with playing with physicality and pride. Something that has been lost. That identity fades a little more every passing day. Such a shame. Where is the disconnect? All efforts this off-season went into bolstering that aspect of the game. That's what all the talk was about. Somehow they are even more lifeless and robotic than a year ago.

Well, I'll be the bad guy here. Does it really make sense to give Marchand a 3 year deal? Not because it could be a rough spell and he may not enjoy that. But because he will be 37 before this season is over and he is just not the player he once was - he's not. Maybe if the AAV is pretty low but I would be surprised if he's extended at some super bargain. I don't know... I would proceed cautiously there. The team is past the point of "extending the window" with their old core. Those days are over.

Tampa Bay was torched for letting Stamkos go... but looking at the results so far and taking into account some of the brutally honest takes about his underlying data last year... were they wrong?

I really don’t like his body language right now. He does not look happy or focused on the ice. Usually he’ll get into scrums and dig in. A competitive pest. He curls away from it now. Maybe he is trying to be more captainy, but if that is the case it’s affecting his game. Edgy Marchand is the better Marchand
