When I saw Coyle and Marchand together I was like wtf ugg.
I was not a fan of the lines used tonight.
Coyle has been listless all season.
Marchand is still recovering from surgeries and no training.
Zacha while trying has absolutely no finish.
Pastrnak can't protect the puck.
McAvoy has regressed badly and has no confidence.
Frederic looks lost - different linemates every game.
Carlo missing assignments and out of position.
Geekie looks lost and no confidence.

This game lies squarely on Montgomery and lack of proper preparation ( in his own words - wrong game plan), lack of in game adjustments, and benching the wrong individuals.

I'm going to say it here, something I've alluded to in other threads, Montgomery is not the answer.
He probably should go.

The Bruins have looked awful all year with the exception of the Leafs, Habs and Av's game, it is to be expected. They look lifeless, the PP beyond terrible and they aren't even very physical with all of their size. I welcome a change, these players look way too comfortable knowing that Monty never makes any changes to the top guys.
They didn't look good against the leafs.

Nobody is going to take this forward group and lead it to the promised land. I've been in Sweeney's corner since he became GM, but this off season he completely screwed the pooch. Thinking this forward group was gonna be good enough is sheer negligence.

So what do we do? Bring in a bottom pair defenseman for $5mil...That's not Zadorov's fault BTW, and I don't blame him. It was just such an unnecessary signing...Been saying it all summer.
I agree with pretty much everything you said, but none of it excuses the way our top of the roster players look right now. Especially against the freaking flyers.

I still don’t know what I just watched. I honestly, really don’t.
Me neither ...it's definitely a game I wish I could unsee

Just watching the replay of the Sens giving an 8-1 beating to the Blues. Now Ottawa have their problems, especially defensively, but the speed, confidence and clear intent of their play is night and day compared to the current Bruins. And they're far from alone in that. Speed/skill has become a cliche and as Florida will tell you it's clearly not all you need to win in this league. But the NHL product is clearly trending a certain way and our management looked at it during the offseason and instead went in exactly the opposite direction. Big, which in itself is not bad, but big, slow and lacking talent. And to top it off, soft.

This is a deeply problematic roster, coached by a guy, or rather a whole coaching staff, who doesn't seem to have any clear idea how to effectively direct this sort of group. I maintain there is a narrow path, or window if you will, in which this roster can be at least a reasonably competitive team. But they haven't found it yet, not even close. So the decision management need to make is, do you give the team time, hope things turn around and, if not, start to look at what the future looks like at the deadline and beyond? Or do they react now and try to salvage this current season, with the knowledge that it may well not work and may just do more harm in the long run? Some tough conversations to be had.

I say again, the letter guys WTF? 88 with a weak wrister from the blue line amd 73 with a weak turnover.....Add 63 turning the puck over all night and that's another embarrassing loss!!

Can't disagree with this. Best players can't play like that and expect to win. 4th line wasn't there to save their bacon tonight.

No excuse for the PP either. Nearly a 1:40 with a 5 on 3. Relatively fresh ice (which was terrible). Early in the 1st, no score. That was your chance get them on their heels. Couldn't even generate a clean look. Not sure what the **** they were trying to do. Good-Great teams have that killer instinct. Also this has to fall on coaching staff as well.

This team is in the middle of an identity crisis. I don't know what they are. Or what they are even trying to be. The push in the off-season by management was bigger and "tougher" to play against. I don't see it.

Montgomery will probably take the fall at the end of the day, as much as I don't agree with it. I just want to see more aggression and emotion in general. Shouldn't need a kick in the butt every other game.
