Sounds like a coach with no answers on how to create offense against the NHL worst defensive team. Like I said earlier, it's one thing to be a boring team, but boring and losing is unacceptable when you have a top goalie, a top 10 player in the NHL in Pastrnak, a top 7-8 Dman in McAvoy, a decent supporting cast and a true captain in Marchand. This coach couldn't even get Boston out of the 1st round 2 years ago up 3 games to 1 with a historically good team and people think he will lead us to the promised land, never going to happen.

you lose a game 1 - 0 in the 3rd you have one shot on net after 14min of play... clearly the plan is to search the best high scoring chance to score....Monty's plan!

Nobody is going to take this forward group and lead it to the promised land. I've been in Sweeney's corner since he became GM, but this off season he completely screwed the pooch. Thinking this forward group was gonna be good enough is sheer negligence.

So what do we do? Bring in a bottom pair defenseman for $5mil...That's not Zadorov's fault BTW, and I don't blame him. It was just such an unnecessary signing...Been saying it all summer.

Clearly they don’t have the talent to simply show up and go through the motions.

Again, what do they do well?

Do they have the roster that would make a coaching change an effective move? Would simplifying their game, hitting, getting pucks and bodies to the net, and limiting the finesse play help?

Do they have the roster to play that brand of hockey?
If 63\13 significantly regress this year, they are major candidates to DNQ.

Sweeney being comfortable with 5 top 6 forwards year after year has finally caught up to him.

He can go as well as Montgomery.

Players create offense, not coaches.

The coaches job is to put them in the best position to do that, he isn't. This idea of quality shooting over quantity is ridiculous, this team constantly passes up decent scoring chances to try and make the beautiful highlight reel pass, heck even Pastrnak is guilty of this. Secondly this PP is so poorly coached yet they make no adjustments, same players, same game plan to force feed passes to Pasta for the one-timer. They need to simplify things, get shots on goal with traffic and crash the net with all of these " big " players.

We for the most part outplayed them yet only had 25 shots on goal.
Flyers blocked plenty, others went off the glass or just off the boards.

Feel bad for Korpisalo. Dude brought it. Yet nothing to show for it.

Our centermen.
Coyle. 1 goal this season. That's it.
Lindholm has tanked after a strong first 5 games.
Poitras is ok, but in over his head.
Kastelic our best centerman plays 9-10 mins a night.

Something is amiss.

Each game that passes I'm more and more in the fire Monty camp. This guy has no clue what he's doing. New lines every period, no offensive system, undisciplined penalties, player's looking disinterested. He's gotta go. He had the benefit of coaching one of the best roster's of all time his first season, and they were able to continue that momentum into the next year but now that things are tough he's showing he doesn't have what it takes to motivate or strategize. Show him the door and call up Gerard Gallant (unless someone else has a better idea).

Christ we did better with re-threads like Van Riemsdyck and Shattenkirk last season and they were cheap. We spend 13.25 mil on FAs and look where we are now.

This team does not instill confidence in anyone.
