The other two haven’t been good recently but I’m starting to think it’s because they have a centre that’s completely invisible and has no idea how to play his position.

No it's because they have the IQ of a rock. Newhook comes in with blazing speed and purpose and has Anderson next to him who doesn't know what to do if he's not trying to beat a defender 1 on 1 with his speed, and Slaf isn't even there yet.
