G Patrik Kerkola - KalPa, Liiga (2025 draft)

Today, this goalie became the youngest goalie ever who had started a game in Liiga (stats dating back to 1975-76 season). Only other goalie who has played at the younger age is Kari Takko (who played for Noth Stars and Oilers in late 1980s/early 1990s) came in relief during 1978-79 season.

Turning 17 at the end of March, he is therefore draft eligible in 2025. He played four games in World Under-17 Hockey Challenge earlier this season.

I haven't watched him to play so not giving scouting report. Anyway a good time to start the discussion.

What is the goalie situation in KalPa atm. Maybe Jatkola and Lekkas are your go to guys but he showed some flashes of great technic and tactical awareness in Hlinka that got me into his game.. He seems to read the game solid aswell so if KalPa is not the place that suits him best why not loan a guy somwhere else then?

IPK is KalPa's affiliate team in Mestis, so it's possible that he gets some playing time in there, if they really think that he needs to play with men. He already got two games in playoffs last season, so maybe. Personally I don't see why they would need to rush him.

If Kerkola would've had interest to join Barrie Colts he would've already signed.
That Barrie Colts hasn't officially announced Kerkola's signing gives a signal Kerkola
is staying to Kalpa U20 team or then Kalpa has decided loan him to IPK mestis team.


That Kerkola's team was marked to Barrie Colts in U18 Team Finlad's Hlinka tournament roster paper
is not relevant transfer document or official confirmation Kerkola's reporting to OHL.
