What makes this post 1000x better is that it's coming from you, someone who preaches extreme patience with Slaf and the whole situation.

Tbf, there's nothing incongruent with preaching patience for Slaf's development while acknowledging Cooley is the better player atm.

Anyone know if Dvorak is playing? I remember hearing he was likely to return early November. I just wanna see Newhook moved back to the wing where he can be more effective.

I expect to feel some pain from watching Cooley.

Another late game that I'll tell myself all day I'm not going to watch, turn it on 'just to see', get intrigued, and end up staying up until 2am finishing.

Because of the time zone difference I only get to watch west coast and matinée games. Will be waking up at 4 am for this one. I'm turning into an old man anyways so it's not too bad.

Habs on the 2nd of their 3-game road swing and they're cooking.

Owners of a 5-2-2 record so far, they've racked up 10 points in their last 6 games. They even managed to take the Vegas Knights into extra time in their most recent match up.

Their success didn't go unnoticed as one big name Vegas resident took it upon herself to greet some of them in person following their performance.

From the bright lights of Vegas and Céline Dion, the team has now headed to that whole other world in ... Arizona.

Does anyone have an arena to spare, by any chance?

One player in particular is once again having a remarkable season debut. Sean Monahan has put up 5 goals and 3 assists so far this season while posting a stellar 60.5% faceoff success ratio. He's that valued, reliable top 6 center that all teams dream about.

He and the team are playing so well that it's now become a hot topic about what should be done with him, once his one-year deal expires.

Some wouldn't hesitate to re-up him given his age and expected production, however, the spectre of past health issues looms large in the mind of others who would prefer that the Habs cash in on him, at the trading deadline.

Nice problem to have.

Speculation from practice is that Lindström will draw in for Harris and Pezz is expected to be out in favor of Ylönen. Cayden Primeau might get the start. All subject to further confirmation.

Meantime, this other guy is getting real close to resuming active duty, quite possibly this Saturday.

Not a moment too soon, as it would allow for far greater lineup flexibility, which was compromised at centre since losing Dach for the season.

Finally, all eyes continue to be on this rookie who is facing challenges as he's learning the ropes at the NHL level. He won't be the last young player to have such a big spotlight cast on him in a major hockey market as the team doesn't appear to want to send him down for an AHL stint.

You do you, Slaf.

How has that second line not been broken up yet? MSL is getting stubborn.
MSL is a young dinosaur it appears.

MSL is ready to live or die with Slafkovsky-Newhook-Anderson.

:eek3:
Anderson should be embarrassed with the way he plays. 5.5 million for 7 years is a contract only Bergevin would hand out.

November 4 (this Saturday) is when Dvorak can be reactivated from LTIR. Since he's been training with full contact for like 2 weeks now, he's probably ready to go too.

That means Habs have to make a big decision tomorrow (who gets traded/waived) or lose another player to injuries for a while because they are at 23 active players without Dvo right now.

Until DVO returns, I guess. Maybe we’ll see Hook on the wing at that point.

As Anthony Martineau points out, Slaf is struggling more than most. It’s not just his production (only 1 assist in 9 games plus long goal scoring drought that began last season), but it’s the fact that he has taken no shots from the slot area so far this season.

He also ranks 9th on the Habs for shots attempted per 60 mins.

No one cares
I'm just here to say that I might be asleep before this one or I might not. Great GDT from the man who only sleeps maybe once or twice a week @Runner77. Our record has so much to do with Sean Monahan and the team looked okay last season until he got injured. He really is a good NHL center, probably our best atm but I don't understand why they won't try Slaf with him unless they are waiting until Dvorak comes back which would make sense.

Interesting stat line pointed out by Elliott’s Friedman about Moneyhands:

Three players remain with more than 100 minutes at five-on-five and zero goals against. They are Winnipeg’s Dylan Samberg (113:52), Florida’s Evan Rodrigues (105:42) and Sean Monahan of Montreal (100:52). Rodrigues has been on for eight, Monahan six and Samberg three (courtesy: Natural StatTrick).
