Brandon Saad got absolutely abused in that OT (again) with little effort defensively (again). Not trying to stir the pot but if that was #19 a year ago people would have gone absolutely bonkers on both OTL's.
If someone tell me before game we get a point with CMac i agree immediately.
But, what a save by CMac in overtime, really strong game by him.
All in all, i'm satisfied.
How long until Dubi gets healthy scratched? Have to think he's at the top of Torts' **** list based on his play the last few games.
Doubt it. He got caught flat footed by an elite player. It happens. There's nothing about his game that is of the slightest concern in terms of effort or ability. Holy overreaction.
Wonder who were the two top guys Torts thinks werent giving enough tonight?
I don't blame Saad for the last goal. A little, but not anymore than numerous other guys who were slow on their assignments. Jones was drifting on the Bouwmeester goal, etc...
If there was one good thing it's that the turnovers are getting very low compared to what I'm used to with this club. But the coverage can get sloppy - the most painful thing to do in sports is to keep tight coverage on a moving attacker, and guys frequently just don't do it.
Again my bigger issue is the team didn't stand up physically. They tried to outskill the Blues. I actually missed Prout.

My immediate thoughts were Dubinsky, Jenner, and Saad.
Let Boone check out the hot dogs and popcorn in the press box and draw in Sonny Milano. One game - that's all I'm saying. I'm not saying to trade anybody - don't send somebody to the minors - don't fire somebody or waive somebody. Nothing drastic. Milano in - Boone sits. One game - that's it.
Having see Tort's public nonspecific call out of certain players (with whom I suspect he had very pointed private chats), I am more convinced that ever that Tort's is the right guy to get us to the Promised Land. He knows and understands the high level of effort that has to be consistently achieved in order to be a superior team in this league. I trust his eyes to filter out those who are not pulling their weight.
I thought Jenner was active without the puck last night and weak with it. I love Boone Jenner. At this point however, I would advocate a change for one game. Sometimes I worry that Werenski is aging backwards like Benjamin Button. We can't have our #1D being someone with the mind of a 28 year old but the physical stature of a 10 year old
He's 6'2 218 pounds...he's still growing too, he needs to get stronger but certainly doesn't lack the size, wouldn't say he has the stature of a 10 year old
