I woke up at 3am in Korea to watch this pathetic attempt. Switching to Sweden-Switzerland because I woke up for a hockey game, not THIS.

Aside from the one huge misfortune, the Lafreniere injury, this game has actually been really nice. Good play by both sides, the Canadians woke up a bit late.

I hope we have a rematch of this later in the tournament and I think it'll be a much closer game. I had these two teams as the favorites, and we're seeing now that neither team can really bully the other team out of the game.

*becomes a Canadian hero*

He's very young. People forget that, even though they're in the same draft, there's almost a year's difference in the ages of Lafreniere and Byfield.
He is also like 6'5 220 lbs. And really, its not the first time he looks underwhelming at international level

It's not like they're reading these posts.

In general, Canada makes such a huge deal out of the WJC because of the history with TSN.

It wasn’t always like this until the 1990s when a sports network with no hockey rights turned it into a holiday tradition.

Canada has been overthinking the selection process for a while.

I simply cannot believe this is the group of highest skill kids available. Far too much stock is put into 200foot play/intangibles.

Left a guy like Rees at home who is having one of the best offensive seasons in the entire chl and is an incredibly hard working two-way player.

Not that one guy would make a difference today but still, they always make some odd selections.
