Russia looks like the more desperate team. Refs are brutal. Don't mind missing tough calls but the obvious ones need to be made.

Is there challenges in WJC?

TSN says yes. But, they say that the amount of time from the whistle to call for a challenge is shorter than the NHL. So, your video team gets 1-2 views of it before they can signal down to challenge the call. If you are wrong, it's a delay of game penalty.

As a top 5 pick who isnt in the NHL one would expect him to dominate this tourney, not be just better than Bahl or McIsaac in this game.

He's barely playing and when he is he's in a defensive situation. With McIsaac minutes im sure he would stand out more. But other than that I agree he hasn't done alot with the miniscule minutes hes been given

You mean like Hayton didn't dominate last year or how Turcotte isn't dominating right now?
Chabot had 3 points in 5 games in his +1 draft year only to dominate the year after.

Byram was incredibly young for his draft year and is facing some adversity right now which should be good for his development in the long run.
He also is used as a third pairing Dman playing behind some older guys. Expecting him to dominate a 19 year old tournament as a third pairing D seems optimistic. Makar did it despite playing a third pairing role but he is special and also was almost a year older at that point due to him being a late birthday.

TSN also needs to step measuring how good these guys are based on NHL draft.. It hasn't been a good measure for like a decade now, especially when it comes to Russia

Chabot wasn't a top 5 draft pick.

Russians couldn't catch a break with how shitty their goaltending was against the czechs and now they're getting all the breaks in the world. If you don't believe in hockey gods you have to be a fool.

Rodrigue should be in the net. He’s been this teams goalie at most other international tournaments up until now, played with a lot of these guys at previous tourneys. I guess in Canada’s eyes however being 7ft tall is more important then previous international experience.
I was surprised to see him not in that. I didn’t watch the game against the United States but I just figured he was in and when I put this game on I was surprised it wasn’t. We will see if they make the switch this. Not that it would really matter. We would probably still be losing anyway LOL

Hunter had a horrid period. Missed a challenge and did not pull the goaltender when 99% of coaches would have.

I think you kind of make your own breaks happen.

Russia came out like gangbusters and put up 17 shots. You get more puck luck when you play more positive hockey.

Everyone is 2-2 and goal differential decides who is first and who goes to play relegation

Hofer is the next goalie up.

Canada will come back, no doubt. An offside goal off a boneheaded turnover and some bull**** penalties combining with terrible goaltending doesn’t change how this Canadian team is vastly superior to Russia.

Russia is opportunistic. So were the Americans. If the refs can stuff their whistles Canada will increasingly begin to dominate with their superior speed and size.
Was rooting for Canada.

Now rooting for Russia.
