The Kings offense sucks outside of one line? I've seen that movie before. No spoilers, but the ending is pretty good. Both times.

After what we've seen from this team over the past 3 seasons, it's hard to criticize them for sub-par regular season play. At this point, it's almost expected.

That said, it would be nice to have a more "exciting" regular season for once, and see some of our great players live up to their potential through out the year.

They laid a stinker, it happens. No production you say ? Who didn't expect that ?

Kopitar/Gabo out, scoring is going to be hard to come by. Even with Those two guys healthy the Kings are not a top offense.

It's early, not even 20 games in.

I agree.

I also worry they've just literally played too much hockey now, too. Especially with the Olympics last year. Take some regular season nights off, sure, but man, little early to look so hung over!

The Kings have played so-so, and have 14 of a possible 20 points so far. With key injuries and a suspended player. I'll take it.

Couple more thoughts...

I'd like to see Jones get more starts. I feel like we're already leaning on Quick too heavily. Going into this year, wasn't the plan to start Jones more often?

I think people expecting the Kings to score more when Gaborik/Kopitar get back are going to be disappointed.

Won't score more per say, but they will have more consistent offensive zone time, and chances.

That may not lead to more scoring, or it may.

I know I rag on the Penguins a lot, and deservedly so, but their defense on paper is pretty damn good.

Ditto. I'm not even mad.

This shows why the 70s line is not a #1 line. They are best when Sutter has the last change and play limited minutes so the can out run the other guys. Not getting down on them. When Kopitar and Gaborik are back, other teams won't be able to shut down both lines.
Kopitar was missed on the PK as well. October has been good so far.

Agreed. With Kopitar/Gaborik back in the lineup and eating up top line minutes, that 70's line will run amok again. Hopefully.

So, according to Jewels from the Crown, the Kings are the second most penalized team in the NHL. So yeah, there's that.

Tell me how Sutter can fix that.

Got to have the long view here, guys.

Don't forget how dominating that first line was in the playoffs. Once we get Gabby and Kopi back healthy again, that first line will be lighting it up once again.

And I really do believe the 70s line is in its element as the 2nd line. Less pressure on them makes for easy transition and goals.

We have two really hot scoring lines when everyone is healthy. And its early yet. I do believe we will have a more dynamic team in the regular season this time around, and can even win our division. The Ducks are beginning to come back down to earth (losing 2 of 3). Their goaltending wasn't going to continue at that torrid pace.

The Kings have two legitimate top lines and it'll pay dividends in the playoffs. No one can match their depth down the middle. To be honest, I've wised up to get worked up during the regular season. I'm shocked most haven't followed suit. This team will once again emerge as a powerhouse come April. Just enjoy the wins and worry less about the losses.

4 key players not on the ice tonight and penalty trouble, not surprised we lost at all. Let's go get a W tomorrow please.

It should be expected for us to be the most penalized team. Sutter has them playing right on the edge of whats legal, and at the start of the year the refs actually call penalties. Its worth it for the playoffs where they arent called

Nah, Regehr looking like he could flip out and murder you is what prevents the refs from calling even more

Hi. This is your friendly neighborhood Pens fan.

Can I just say that I really like your broadcasters? Last night was Hockey Fights Cancer night in the Burgh and I really appreciated your station's first intermission feature on how inspiring it was when Mario came back on the ice the same year he had cancer and Maatta's own setback and how he hopes to keep fighting the good fight. I know it's an overused word in hockey but it WAS very classy of them. Thank you.

That and I enjoyed their brief interview with Brandon Sutter talking and joking about his uncle. ;)

We're lucky to have a great broadcast crew for the Kings. They do a lot to try to educate fans not only about the Kings but other teams around the league as well.

And Brown was a turnover machine today. Vets need to step it up.
I just cant help it but he annoys the hell out of me for years already. Of course more players werent playing well but for a captain he sucks IMO. It might be his body language on the ice.

Against Philly he had another lackluster play again, so typical Brown. Just look what he's doing over here, with Michael Raffl's goal.

That's just laziness.

For the rest, I dont care about this loss. In February nobody remembers this game anymore.
