I feel like Petry today has been better than any of Matheson's best games from last year.
It's just a noticeable difference. Matheson "playing well" is him making some nice rushes and having a nice impact offensively at 5v5. Petry "playing well" is him having an impact in all areas of the game.

That second pair just feels stable with him out there. He has a ton of poise, and he's very strong.
I think the offense will come with our ability to find the point. We might actually get some goals from d this year.

I'll be looking for how we play in the third. Last two years we had a lot of trouble playing full games. Let's see if we can start good habits playing a solid game for three periods and keeping pressure

I think he's a huge reason that Pettersson has mostly been unnoticeable tonight. He's absolutely anchoring that pair.
Speaking of Pettersson, he had a really nice play defensively there to take the body on the Coyotes forward and get the puck up the ice.

Yeah exactly. You want Pettersson to be quiet because it means he's doing his job. You don't want him to be noticeable because if he's noticeable, it means he's screwing up.
I likE Heinen tonight, 25 also looks OK, others are quiet so far, they haven't had too many shifts though

I think Carter looks solid but Kapanen looks confused. His thing is that he looks like he skates really fast but doesn't really accomplish anything with that skating.
You see him when he gets a break and can use his speed, but I genuinely do not remember anything happening with him using his speed.
