Just caught up on dvr... damn ottawa came to play today. Just some bad luck otherwise it'd be tied. Toronto better want to pick up the play in the second period.

this was a classic toronto period under Berube, outshot but they gave Ottawa nothing high danger

Nice to see Ullmark is still the same trash goalie in the playoffs, hopefully this continues!

wasn't it the leafs who lost to a mall guard playing goalie? Could be wrong.

That was David Ayres. He was the emergency backup goaltender and came in for the Carolina Hurricanes. It's a bit of an oversimplification to say that he "worked for the team." He was employed as the Zamboni driver for the Toronto Marlies, but the Leafs own and operate the Marlies, so there's that.

lets be realistic, his goal was just as much a fault on Ottawa's non existent defense as it was him doing anything spectacular.

Still early though. Toronto didn't look great outside a few moments. Ottawa carried the play for sure. Toronto can't feel good about that period and will probably come out stronger for the second.

Ottawa has more shots, but their shot location is as far out as possible.

Thank you years 2010-2025

Thank god they are talking up Tkachuk after doing absolutely nothing that period, I love how much hype he gets and then sucks.

Both teams have some things to work on after 20 mins and both did some things well. Sens being the big underdog should take some confidence from the 1st period, albeit they need to clean up defensively a bit.

I wasn't talking about transitional plays through the neutral zone I was talking about the choppiness and sloppiness while in the neutral zone

I mean one was a breakaway pass from inside the zone

Both teams feeling the nerves a bit. Puck bobbling, not receiving passes, Stolarz letting out rebounds, players missing checks, etc.

I think he was a practice goalie, too. I could be remembering though
