Things I expect. 6 plus game series. Knies is gonna be a pain in our ass all series. Marners just gonna make me shake my head and laugh, multiple times. Sometimes same game. Matthews will score some goals. There is gonna be injuries that will change teams momentum. Team who wins game 1 loses series.

Either way let the War games begin!

Knies will be a big part of the series. Bennett bodying him in his 10th career game notwithstanding, he's been great this season and really came alive against Boston last spring. His heaviness and attitude have been a huge addition to the Leafs Top 6.

That’s always troubled me about the Senators, Senators were politicians and waltzed about in togas and with laurel leaves on their heads, whooo scary!!
Why is the logo a centurion?

Yeah, in the video they seem to be equating Spartans with Senators which is definitely wrong.

But the logo is more accurate. It resembles the helmet of roman officer class more than of a Centurion. Centurions typically had a transverse crest and Officers had them longitudinal

Senators were the military leaders of Rome making up the ranks of Military Tribunes (Junior /mid Officers), Legates (commands legion), Governors ( could commands field armies) & Consuls (commander in chief).

The career track for Senators was the "Cursus Honorum" which had lots of military focus.

You might be thinking about fat politicians laying about of chaise lounges eating grapes, but that's just the movies.

In real life Senators were hardcore stabby mothef***ers that conquered the Mediterranean world...at least during the Republic.

I remember Roberts in particular being a menace against Ottawa in the early 2000s. The game was not as talent-laden as todays game is but man did the NHL have players with heart back then.

It will be a good series. If one is being objective, they would have to prefer Leafs defense, better top end talent (if they show up this year) and the Leafs forward depth is also underrated.

Sens have the more proven star goalie though Stolarz has been lights out this year as well so it's in essence a wash. They also have speed that can catch teams off guard if they aren't prepared.

Sens have a few more rabble rousers but that is only usually effective for the first 5 minutes in both teams first home game and this Leafs team is far better equipped to handle such riff raff than they did a couple of years ago.

I've watched interviews of opposing teams after Leaf games and it's clear they are witnessing a different Leafs team than in the past, especially on the back end. This is a seasoned playoff team and they aren't going to lose a series because a few players chirp the Leafs and act like plastic tough guys in between whistles.

Ultimately if both teams want it equally then the Leafs will win. This is why they play the games and not decide the winners on paper.

As a bonus EA sports and Charles Barkley are on our side too!

THIS IS THE YEAR!

In celebration of the Sens first playoff game, Matthews will score 4 goals in honour. Don’t expect an OT loss this time.

I like how you had to add that caveat, just to preempt that -- yes, Matthews scored four goals and the Leafs *lost* the game.

Which I think is a very apt analogy for the Leafs, their stars having great individual success while the team just loses.

...just a small note that I think Leaf fans are forgetting; y'all need to keep an eye on Nick Cousins, the Ryan Hartman of the East... greasy, sneaky, dirty PoS...he's gonna try something, imo, so be prepared...
