With our single really talented player (Guseinov) out for the tournament and Kazakhstan's tendency to start off these tournaments on a bad note, lets just hope we don't lose by too much!

Lucky for Kazakhstan they're in the weaker pool. The other pool may have been double digits every game. Hopefully they can score here. I'll go 6-1 Swiss.

The Swiss don't look extra strong this year but they should win this one quite smoothly. Kazakhstan seems to be the clear underdog of the whole tournament. I would be more than surprised if they take any point(s) during the whole group stage. But it is good to see Kazakhstan at least competing on this level, taking into account that in the men's category they haven't been regularly playing among the top 16 in the recent years. Perhaps they are building some youth development program again. I remember they used to be good between ca. 98-05.

9-1 Swiss

Our team is pretty strong overall I guess. Three outstanding goalies, 3 very experienced defenders and great depth on offense but we're lacking elite offensive talent. Don't see this team scoring many goals. If they wanna win, solid defense while leaning heavily on Berni, Moser and Gross is the way to do it.

Yes, the defense looks very promising indeed. Gross or Berni are great prospects. Kind of opposite problem compared to the Czechs: Very solid D, questionable offensive firepower.
Who do You think is going to be the goalie no. 1? Hollenstein?

Hollenstein is the clear number 1 goaltender

Yeah, Hollenstein will probably get the first start and will be #1 if he plays solid. But Schmid will get one start too I guess.

Great first minutes for Nussbaumer. Was rather disappointing the last two tournaments but if he could step up now with all the stars gone that could go a long way for this Swiss team. Encouraging.

Boah, great play by Aebischer to give back the lead. KAZ had one scoring chance on which they scored.

Got lucky with that one goal, but good composure by Musorov to score there. We're still in it after the first period and that's all I can ask of our guys!

Nussbaumer was bad at the start last year for sure, but was gaining confidence during the tournament and was one of the strongest forwards in the end, looked more like his former self IMO. Somehow his time in Shawignian doesn't seem to be the most lucky one.

Skillwise he remains a step above the rest of his teammates, a lot will depend on him offensively.

Aebischer's flying a bit under the radar, but he's probably the most talented offensively of all big 4 Ds on this year's team. Always liked the way he sees the ice as a puck carrier and calmly makes a good constructive play most of the time.

We may be lacking elite offensive talent but I don't recall the Swiss under 20 squad to ever have been this dominant. If they wanna go far in this tournament they need to cut down on those dumb giveaways. But in terms of system and depth this team is looking very good. You can tell that this is a very veteran team and probably better coached than in recent years, too.

Yiiikkes that's an unfortunate goal to give up

Puck bounces off the wall, goes out in front and goalie sweeps it into his own net with his skate
