Is it Vegas being good goal scorers or the quality of the goaltending? Probably more of the latter in this game but it was fun to watch.

But Olofsson could possibly get to mid-twenties and maybe Dorofeyev can too. Eichel, Stone, Barbashev and Hertl need to contribute too and we will almost for sure get a top six winger nearer the all star game, so goals may be an issue for parts of the season but we could still possibly have a borderline top ten offense by the playoffs.

But I am worried about goaltending. Hill has really only been good for us the fifteen games of the playoff run and then the first fifteen starts of last year. He's only ever played like thirty something games in a year and I think our system sometimes makes him appear better than he is actually playing.

I don't know, I think the team and Cassidy is good enough to work around some dip in goaltending and I don't think Hill is terrible but I worry if he's really good enough to get back to the Cup in a competitive year.

It's absolutely Georgiev being terrible. We are not going to shoot 38% in a game probably ever again.

I also expect 20+ from Olofsson and Doro. The biggest factor offensively though is going to be health for Eichel/Stone/Hertl/Karlsson and what we can get from Holtz/Brisson who are the real unknown quantities.

And yes the goaltending is also a huge concern, but that is a deficiency that is a lot easier to mask than scoring goals, especially if this team defends at a championship level.

Georgiev was terrible, but our offense looked really good. Oloffson's first goal was a real snipe and no one was stopping the first Stone goal. Was talking to some Avalanche fans last night, they are really down on their goaltending. I think Theodore, Eichel will have monster seasons, and Hague looked like he belonged on the top pair. Also, Stone (cross my fingers) is skating better than in two years, if he remains healthy I don't think we'll struggle offensively as much as some think.

I too worry about our goaltending, but we'll see. Hill wasn't great even last night, let's see what Samsonov brings, but Schmid might also become an option - New Jersey was extremely high on him two years ago

When Karlsson returns, I think Brisson is the odd man out. He looks overmatched. I haven't seen much from Holtz - nothing terrible, but nothing special either.

What is impressive is Hill continuing his regular season streak of letting in 3+ goals every game.

Excluding the playoffs, i think you have to go back all the way to February to see a game where he didn't let in in 3 or more goals.

This game could have been way different if Georgiev knew how to make a save.

Hey all. Leaf fan here. Just curious on how you view Sammy and potential workload. It's partly fantasy sure but honestly, I am interested how will get on since leaving and his role with your team.

Hill has struggled since returning from injury in the early part of the year and has never started 40 games in a season. If Samsonov has a good return to form season, I think between 30 and 40 starts isn't out of the question.

I’d say it’s the awesome shooting more than Georgiev being terrible. I’ve seen plenty of Knights games in the past when the team would have 40+ shots on goal, keep shooting at the goalies’ chest so the goalie didn’t even need to move, score 2 or fewer goals and fans of the other team would say “Wow our goalie was great tonight!”

I was reading how one goal in particular was really bad, but even on that one the goalie was screened and the shot was well placed.
