Georgiev first year in Colorado: 2.51 GAA and .919 sv %. This is on par with Gru's numbers during his tenure here. That was the last season that the Avs were elite defensively.

They were better defensively then, but you’re painting like they are horrible today. They are top 10 defensive team and arguably top 5. If George can’t produce average numbers behind that, it’s more on George than the defense.

The Avs numbers last season defensively were still very good.

They didn't magically become an awful defensive team. Last year they were 7th in scoring chances against and 12th in high danger chances against.

Georgiev simply sucked and continues to suck.

You can't really count the empty netter. But yeah, f*** 4giev. Start FatMan next game and see if he was cold or also ass. We already know we're not getting elite goaltending this year, but we can't have a starter letting in that 1st goal and the one on the PP.

I can point from almost all of the Vegas goals a really bad defensive play.

You can do that on the vast majority of NHL goals. Mistakes happen and goalies are there to make saves when called upon. Avs gave up very little high danger tonight, but almost all of it went in. Some medium and low stuff too.

It was mostly in net. Avs gave up a total of 5 high danger chances and only 22 shots. Thats a game a team should win 90+% of the time.

Nonetheless, the defense was disappointing tonight. ANY mistake they make leads to a goal.

Makar partially whiffs on the clearing pass during the PK at the end of the 2nd leaving the PK unit on for far too long and that leads to another Olofsson goal. Any mistake can turn into a game killer.
