I actually still do not understand why it had to happen. They gave away a gritty, productive, 2nd line winger for nothing. They could have cleared out others for cap space. Some combo of our 3rd/4th liners and 5/6 D. Dump them, keep Hall, bring kids up. Ugh. Still pisses me off.

Johnny Boychuk trade 2.0. Trade top talent instead of depth.

I disagree. Walk me through how you can piece together $5M in cap savings (using $1M as a replacement player) without Hall? I think you have to assume an Ullmark trade wasn't available, so that's really not an option. And then what does the lineup look like?

They had to give up something of value in order to get a bite on Fliggy.

great to see Beecher on the team so far, Lohrei I am sure is disappointed but have to think the brass or someone spoke to him about this being less about his play in the preseason and more about a numbers game

Kid still has room to grow though and he can do that and play monster minutes in Providence. Was ready to attack Sweeney and Cam for the "we`ll let the kids play" routine when I thought they`d still send down Beecher and shift Poitras back to the OHL but good on em` for now.

Looking forward to seeing our boys play and of course, catching Bedard. Saw him here in Victoria last year, think he put up 5 pts that night without breaking a sweat

Oh my God, I just now realized that the game is tomorrow night and not tonight. I was planning for days to watch the game tonight... ugh!

when talking about the Hall trade everyone ignores that he had another year of term at $6m. That means that he'd have started his final season in Boston making $6m about a month away from his 33rd birthday. With the cap going up next year and Bergeron & Krejci outgoing, the Bruins were clearly trying to maximize next summer's cap space. I think the Hall trade was as much (or more) about clearing next year's cap hit as it was about this year. But as others have pointed out, making room to keep him this year would have been extremely challenging. The Bruins know he's a good player but didn't feel comfortable moving out other pieces (like say a younger Debrusk) in order to keep an aging Taylor Hall (who has a lot of hard miles).

Yep, I like their idea of having a goalie tandem too. I was in the trade one of the goalie camp but I changed my mind. Vasilevsky has a cap hit of 9.5 thru 2028, in comparison it makes more sense having 2 competent goaltenders with a cheaper cap hit combined. Especially incase one of them gets or is injured or needs rest.

Because the media is hyping him up before he plays a regular season game. Not a big fan of over-saturation. I don't expect the broadcast to talk about the Bruins at all tomorrow.

Bedard is going to be a superstar.
That's great and I am aware that he could become a superstar. It also doesn't mean I can't be annoyed with everyone fawning all over him

They'll mention how they lost in the first round.

Is Heinen the 13th forward......even though he's not signed officially.....assuming he'll sign tomorrow. Can't see them icing a forward group of 12 for very long!

Yes. I think it’s safe to assume he is the extra forward. We will see how it pans out.

We won't miss hall when jvr starts lighting up the light and he only costed a mil. Steal.

That Boychuk turned into Carlo & Lindgren. Had they held onto Lindgren they likely netted a 2nd pairing out of moving Boychuk

Kinda wild eh? I always hated the Lindgren trade. You could tell he was gonna make it after watching that squad win the World Juniors. He was lights out the whole tournament.

Bedard just straight up isn’t going to bust unless he gets injured in some horrific way.

The guy is crazy talented with goal scoring being his best attribute.

Many teams will also have a surge in cap space. There is no guarantee, let alone the new players being more impactful than Hall this season and next.

Hall is one of about 3 players on this roster who can carry the puck with zone entry. He also has top six talent - his season was fine. He was playing with Coyle and Frederic.

The Bruins will regret it and all the Sweeney defenders will see it in time.

It tanked the season and led to the Bruins trading 2 2nds for Connolly, a massive failure.
