Galchenyuk - The Pat Brisson Edition

Bergevin would match.

He wouldn't get the bridge deal he would want, but he would match. He's going to have to pay Galchenyuk that money anyways.

After that, he'd probably make a trade to clear some cap, either Gilbert or Emelin, or a wildcard (I highly doubt it, but it's an option) is Prust.

I don't think he would match.

They think of Chucky has a 2nd line winger.. they won't pay him that money. They'll gladly have the "problem" of their hands and spin it like there was nothing they could do. That's the salary cap and the Hawks/Bruins traded good young players for less than they were worth because that's the era we're in.

Meanwhile the fanbase will eat it up.

No one is going to float AG a 7MM offer sheet. Presumably other teams watched him play last year and are aware that he is still unproven and has foot speed issues. I get that he went #3 overall and is our top young forward, but other teams have players of his caliber in their system that have just as much upside. There is no guarantee that he will have a better career than Gallagher and in a cap league no one is paying big bucks and term for potential.

I don't think he will get $7M... BUT.

The top UFAs this year are 40pts/20G kind of guy... and AG is a 40pts/20G 21 year old kind of guy.

I won't be surprised if someone decide to kick the tires. Especially if we are trying to play hard ball with him.

At this point of his career, with a bit more consistency Galchenyuk can put up 55-60 points as a winger. A player putting up these numbers is easily worth 6m, especially at his age, with a possibility of him being able to accomplish more if given the opportunity. I could see teams like Toronto, Edmonton, Buffalo and Phoenix.

Just the threat of an offer sheet seems to be enough for some Gm'S to pull the trigger. I hope ours won't.

This is true.

Would he sign this deal the Sens gave MZ? Have any numbers filtered about what the Habs have offered him and what Galchenyuk wants?

The comparables are set.. the whole reason the deal is being held up and why Galchenyuk fired Larionov is because the kid wants to be a center on this team. I thought that was abundantly clear. I don't think Galchenyuk and his family appreciated how he's been handled the past two seasons, especially regarding the center position this year when he and the team performed above expectations when he made the switch.

I also don't think the Chucky camp was particularly thrilled with the demeaning words in Bergevin's press conference.

I don't think they put ink to paper for anything less than a short term deal with the promise of Galchenyuk being given the keys to a center spot on the team. If that's breached, then he's holding out after the season and he's not playing for this team again.

Let's just say if Galchenyuk does get offer sheeted, I will lose my ****. If we lose Galchenyuk, I will lose my **** more than anyone else here most likely.

My pitch-fork is ready and polished. Don't you worry. I'll set fire to this ****ing place lol.

Well you seem to be the one starting the fire and almost hoping its going to happen.........careful what you wish for!!

Don't worry.. if my wishes came true, I'd put them to better use

MB plays hardball with our best players?? Why?

The same reason MT plays hardball with talented players on our team. They were both useless grinders during their playing career and have a deep seeded hatred for those better and more talented than they were.

Words said here have very little affect on the real world. We like to pretend that saying Shutout or something means something but... Nope.

It's entirely on management. But there's still time to make a deal, it's not that risky.

Yeah I know I just like to talk positive,,,,,,,,I don't like negative conversation......especially to the team I have loved for decades.

It's not about being positive or negative. It's about being REALISTIC. Reality is the only thing that matters. Pretending that everything is just fine and dandy is nauseating and boring.

I know man. I love this team too.

But people are anxious and antsy. A lot of teams made moves, and our biggest problems haven't been addressed yet... So it creates creeping doubt.

What-if scenarios are usually negative, no? The contract dispute, leaked info from the agent, etc... It doesn't paint a great picture. Toronto could really poach him if they so wished.

When hockey is played, especially with this driven and proud squad, I never count them out and always think they'll win... But it's the offseason and we're in a very real contract dispute with our former 3rd overall... After being in a contract dispute with our Norris winning man.

It's anxious times. But I'll try to express less of it.

Remember, we're all Habs fans here.

Im a very patient person and I would rather be a positive patient person than sit back and ***** about every little detail that this management team does.
Patience is virtue.

Hoping to see our good young players get an offer sheet? That's a bit ridiculous. Unless you want Arizona to do it.

Well, when it involves our 3rd overall pick who's been screwed over for 2 seasons now by a lesser hockey player and an even lesser hockey mind.. the patience is wearing thin.

Especially when you wrap the horse-**** in a diaper and call it a transition year.

We should be walking into this season with firm knowledge of whether or not Galchenyuk is a top 6 center.

It's still a COMPLETE and utter unknown. Though the sample we have been given thus far as indicated to every sane person watching hockey that he's ready offensively and more suited to that role.. we are still left in bewilderment because he was quickly shuffled off back to the wing and haven't seen him return since.

We've been patient.. and nothing has been resolved.
