I don't, either.

But when you trade a guy who can score 40 goals you better get a first round pick along with the scrubs.

Instead Slats opted for a guy who hasn't lived up to his billing as a higher first rounder.

I'm sick.

Not attacking you, but I don't see how you can be sick, at least yet.

Let's see how Brassard turns out with actual hockey players around him. And let's wait and see how Gaborik turns out with Columbus. It could go either way. We'll have to wait and see.

I think some of you are basing this trade off what Gaborik was, compared to what he very well might be at this point.

He's a high salary, inconsistent player who might only be a one dimensional 25 goal scorer at this point.

We may no longer be looking at a 28 year old Gaborik capable of 40-45 goals anymore.

We may be looking at a streaky, beat up 31 year old Gaborik capable of 25 goals, when he feels like it.

Unbelievably upset right now. Gabby was my favorite player :(

Would've been at least OK with it if we got a good return. Trading was the one thing Sather was good at. What we got back is laughable.

He'll be the same thing as Nash turned into- which was not much better than he already was.

Funny. We all thought that two years ago and he came back with 80+ points, 41g last year. He's just been snake bitten these last few games and his offseason injury along with a shortened season doesn't help.

And, while there was the possibility that he could suddenly get hot, there's also the possibility his value could continue to drop off to a point that we'd regret not taking this deal when it was on the table.

One thing is certain, no matter what happens the rest of this year, Torts is not going anywhere. This is his team and will be fashionned in his image. Any player who doesn't fit his strategic plan will be gotten rid of. Torts is the power in this organization, for better or for worse.

And we got back a scrub RW, an alright 3rd line center, and a guy who was a first round pick who hasn't lived up to that billing yet.

The only saving grace is the cap space.

Brassard has been garbage his entire career. I don't expect that to change overnight.

I'm really getting sick of you popping in here whenever you like and taking the gibberish spinning around inside my head and making too much damn sense out of it ; )

I don't think this was a bad trade considering the fact that Gaborik may very well be done as an elite winger in this league.

Fans are going to love Dorsett.

Brassard is at a major crossroad in his career, personally I don't think he'll ever be an elite scorer, but he is serviceable.

Moore is interesting to me. There's no reason, with this teams makeup on the blueline, that he can't develop into a solid two-way NHL defenseman.

Make no mistake, this team did not rebuild with this trade. They simply got what they could for a player who may be starting his career decline.

I think it's fair to say, this team is not a championship contender this season. They just don't stack up with the elite teams.

Hold up, yesterday the shortened season was "too short a sample" to judge Clowe on, who only really has had a few good offensive seasons but is demanding a long term contact. Yet for Gabby he is just done......really? We paid 3 assets for a guy with 0 goals yesterday, trade our best goal scorer today for replacement players we traded to the same team to get Nash.

I'm shocked at what Sather has done to this team in just one calendar year, a team that made it all the way to the ECF has now been gutted and looks wayyy different, may not even make the playoffs and have no picks for the upcoming draft.

It all started to move the pieces to get Nash who was supposed to put us over the top but he crapped the bed on his signings (again) and now has gutted this team. 10 years of building all ruined in 20 months, good job Slats!

lol. Come on, BB, you're better than that.

Dorsett is an excellent bottom-6 player. He's Prust with the potential to be more. He's a leader. The Rangers got deeper with these additions. You guys are going to LOVE Dorsett, I guarantee it.

But a major surgery and two years difference is a pretty substantial.

He's also a free agent after next season and it's pretty obvious that neither side was likely to want to renew their vows.

Your comment also speaks to the fact that this guy has been a bit over the map in terms of production. Which is no doubt a huge reason why we didn't get the monster return some people were expecting.

He said done as an "elite winger".

To be fair, he said the same thing about Clowe in the Clowe trade thread.

I hope some of you recognize the fact that Nash must have had an influence on this trade. He knows Dorsett and Brassard better than anyone in our front office.

I'll take more grit, center depth, and consistency over Gaborik's inconsistent skill and high cap hit every day of the week

An alright 3rd line C? A 3rd liner who puts up 40 points is a GREAT 3rd liner. Not sure if he's going to get the same ice time here or not (haven't looked at his stats since I'm not home). But the guy is more than an alright 3rd liner.

I'm a little surprised at the timing — especially when you look at the return. I would have thought it would be more valuable to the franchise to keep him for the stretch and hope he gets hot and then look to deal him at the draft.

I'm guessing the feeling on both sides was we'd both be better off ending this relationship now. I have to wonder if that's the case, if it had an effect on the return they got.

I think this was a case of wanting to make a move a year early than a year late.

Look, there is no question that the Rangers lost too much grit. And while I am sure that Gabby will score 40 again next year, in here the Rangers got what they could for a player who is slowly moving into the downside of his career.

I never said that about Clowe, so I can't defend the comment. In the Clowe thread my only comment was that I don't think it was a good deal as I feel Clowe is on the downside of his career.

Pretty obvious? Didn't know you could read into the future like that. I'm sure if gabby put up decent numbers next year we would resign him at a lower contract. I rather have just gotten a first round draft pick and not pick up all that crap.
