If they sweep us it will be because of how poorly the Rangers played. Caps are a fine team but they hardly check the boxes of an elite Cup contender. That gets held against us but not other teams for some reason. If the Canes cant come out of the Metro this year, God help them.

I think Leonard is going to find out that playing the part of a pest will go very differently in the NHL, especially during playoff heat. Leonard & Perreault will probably develop in similar ways despite being different types of players. It's part of why they're both so respected amongst USA Hockey minds.
Perreault seems destined to make an instant impact.

To keep him on the Rangers roster and play him I'm pretty sure the Rangers will have to send someone to Hartford like Aube-Kubel or Parssinen or even both. I'm counting 24 on their roster page + Edstrom, Kaliyev who are both done for the season I believe and Rempe is out week to week which might mean the same thing. That leaves 23 which is the limit and Perreault's name isn't on it yet.

I think the Caps are pretty much riding a hot year. It happens, and it's fun when it does, but it's probably not going to follow next year and you never know when you come back to earth...is it in the playoffs? Will their hot shooting hit a cold streak facing teams preparing for them and locking them down? We'll see. Despite their success whenever I've watched them I haven't been super impressed with them as some elite looking team as you say.
