I say Comrie, Fucale and Jarry. But I have a gut feeling Jarry could get 1-9 games with the Pens.

I doubt the Penguins will have the cap space to carry three goalies even for a month. Jarry will be in the WHL full-time without a chance to make the Penguins.

To me the most impressive thing about Jarry's season is the workload. To go from 28 games (27 regular season + 1 playoffs in 2012-13) to 89 (63 regular season + 21 playoffs + 5 Memorial Cup) in a year is patently absurd.

To take some numbers from Burgs on the Pens board (I updated it for tonight's games)...the goalie with the most minutes played by league this year.
Tristan Jarry (Edmonton/WHL) - 5,328 min
Henrik Lundqvist (Rangers/NHL) - 4,676 min
Antoine Bibeau (Val d'Or/QMJHL) - 4,450 min
Spencer Martin (Mississauga/OHL) - 3,832 min
Jake Allen (Chicago/AHL) - 3,649 min
Brian Foster (Stockton/ECHL) - 3,229 min

Lundqvist, with the Olympics added in, will be the only goalie to face a heavier workload this year, barring injury.

Would not at all discount Eric Comrie, he dragged tri-city to the playoffs this year and put up great numbers on a piss poor team that let him get shelled every game

I forgot the ":sarcasm:" in my original thread bump because it was a shot at Canada's decision to pick Fucale based on his Memorial Cup when he wasn't even the best U19 goalie in Canada let alone U20.

He has one year as a starter and Pens don't want to mess around Jarry like they did Fleury.

I could see Comrie and Jarry competing for the starting job. It usually comes down to who does better in camp, and then in preliminary games.

Personally I thought Jarry was really good at times in the Memorial Cup, but not amazing.

Jarry's generally a technically sound goalie with good athleticism, imo, but is still inconsistent at times, which I suppose is par for the course with a young goalie.

I think he'll benefit from one more season of junior and a chance to make Canada's national junior team. I think he has an excellent chance to make the junior team with the Memorial Cup on his resume. He bent many times during this tourney, but he didn't break when couldn't afford to.

But the Oil Kings will lose many players next year.

Reinhart
Samuelsson
Petryk
Moroz (most likely to be the over-ager)
Corbett
Kieser
Kulda

Lazar might get a nine game stint with the Sens, but if he doesn't stay there, he returns Captain of Oil Kings. Pollock, Mayo and Irving would have to step up if Lazar goes to NHL. But Jarry will be there for sure.

I think they will make the finals again, probably verse Kelowna, but doubt they'll repeat as Memorial Cup champions. Kelowna I think will be the WHL Champs.

But I see the Oil Kings going out and getting an over-ager that could most likely be the WHL leading scorer. Maybe even Edmonton native Jaedon Deschandeau to make a line of Pollock-Lazar-Deschaneau. Scherbak wouldn't be a bad choice either, that is if Saskatoon will trade him to help their rebuild.

Jarry go in 5th rond, wins Memroial cap. "Kreme, I told u they underate me!"

Still looks better than the potential roster in Halifax for Fucale

Considering this will be 2 years out from the Memorial Cup for Halifax, yeah.

Edmonton will look considerably worse in 2 years as well.

That's not a safe assumption at all. Edmonton are 2 years out from their last memorial cup run and they just won it.

They won 50 games in each of the last 3 seasons and they've only been around since 2007-08.

They're able to draft & recruit with the best of them.

Well, Ehlers is the only one that could potentially back, but Drouin could be back, but highly doubt it. I say they trade Fucale, maybe Ehlers too, to Quebec. Just so they could compete for the Memorial cup, even though Quebec has Brassard, who could more likely go to the AHL, or just be an over-ager.

Memorial Cup Predicitons:

Quebec
Kelowna
Rimouski
Erie

I think Edmonton will only be bad after Pollock and them are gone, even Laxdal whose been good if he goes to a pro team.

I know its a little off topic for this post, but Erie won't be in the Memorial Cup. They lost a ton of their guys

It'll be interesting to see what the Penguins do with him next year...personally I'd prefer him starting in Wheeling to backing up Murray, especially since this was only Jarry's 2nd season as a starter.

Probably best to start in Wheeling to get starter experience in the pros while Murray holds onto the reigns in WBS. Bring him up for a few stints to get a taste at least.
