Wouldn’t mind the Jets using a mid round selection on Milic. With Lambert there, they would have had plenty of opportunities to do their homework on him.

Seattle hasn't lost in the Playoffs. They are dialed in and playing out of their minds right now. If Kamloops wins tonight, it'll be two teams that are 8-0 in the Playoffs going at it. Kamloops is also the Memorial Cup host so they are playing with house money.

Hard to tell if this guy is more of a Levi/Wolf type, or a Mikey DiPietro...
Either way, wouldn't mind if my Canucks took a chance on this guy.

Definitely impressed me at the WJC, and again in these WHL playoffs.

Where does he get selected? top 3 rounds? I believe he has one more year of eligibility correct?
This is his last year to get drafted, correct.

Interesting question - does anyone know of any comparable as far as a goaltender that got passed up two times (thus is two years older than the first time eligible players) but has basically every accolade you could want out of a goaltender his age now? Frankly, if a team thinks he has all the makings of what a 19 year old future NHL starting goaltender looks like, no real reason to wait just to wait.

But... it looks like NHL Central Scouting put him a lowly 28th on their final rankings of North American Goaltender (published April 18, 2023) https://cms.nhl.bamgrid.com/images/assets/binary/343616178/binary-file/file.pdf... so despite the Junior accolades, at least from Central Scouting's perspective, there must be something they're not seeing as far as how he projects at the pro level. Notably, there's another '03 birth that played in the WHL (and basically the same size) that they have ranked 9th, and even an '02 in the USHL that they have ranked 20th, so it's not strictly an age thing.

I don't know goaltender scouting well enough to know that reasoning could be.

IIHF (of all places) had a great article during the Jrs. It was showing that a lot of all star goalies from the tourney don't pan out at all. The theory they gave was that some goalies peak at 19... eg. they are physically developed and are in their peak size, weight and form. The goalies that go on to be starts later on are not fully developed at this age (eg. might be tall, a bit awkward and still filling out). Not saying that is Milic but it was an interesting read.
