Have to admit my ability to evaluate goaltenders is limited and I have yet to see Ratzlaff play.

In another thread they were discussing the goalies for Canada next month at the WJC. His name came up and the posters had widely different opinions on him.

For those who have seen him play where is his game at the moment and how does he project in the future?

He's a very talented, very fast goalie. He processes the game fast and can react very fast too which on a team like the Thunderbirds which is just an unmitigated mess in their own zone both allows Ratzlaff to show off his skills while also it causes him to adapt some bad habits. He's reacting too quickly to plays and scrambling more than you'd like to see however the team needs him to do that because they need him to just be fast all around the crease. The question surrounding him would be can he add some more patience/calmness to his game. It was there last year with Seattle because Seattle was just so good defensively last year so still very promising/hopeful for his future career.
